POE without crafting just doesn't feel the same.

Well, PoE crafting is tad... overcomplicated? I don't think copying it 1:1 was ever considered, but that doesn't mean current system is any good.

Personally I think PoE2 "crafting" system feels bad, especially in the acts. A bad luck streak can lead to point where progress becomes excessively hard, I think lots of current loudly voiced frustration would go away if people could upgrade their gear in more predictable manner.

I think the game needs some form of actual crafting instead of current glorified slot machine, where we can get predictable results for predictable cost. Crafting bench? Harvest style crafting? Anything that's not full RNG.

This or some tweaks to SSF drop rates.

Trading is a pain and takes fun out of the game, at least for me.

In general I would not be against adding other options. But what drives me away from wanting deterministic crafting options is that it invalidates a large part of dropped items again.

We already have some form of determinism with Runes. It is not much but to me personally enough to fix some needed stats.

I also believe that many (not all) players who complained about not having enough items to make it through the campaign, did not look at magic items and did not try to craft improvements. I think most of them just tried the PoE 1 way of ignoring everything in the campaign.

Furthermore, campaign drops have already been addressed in a previous patch.

But like I said, just my personal opinion.

Crafting was the thing that set the game apart from every other game on the market. I agree that the regular leagues, the mapping and all the content were real fun in poe 1, but crafting allows a whole new level of itemization that no other game has. Funny how poe players joke about D4 itemization, saying it has no crafting and the system was too simple, and here we are with a coinflip.

If Diablo 3/4 had the depth of POE1's itemization build diversity and crafting GGG would be in BIG trouble.

The diablo games do "play" WAY better than poe but have the depth of a sidewalk puddle.

There's nothing but pure despise for the PoE(1) crafting system in me. Bloated, overcomplicated, was too much RNG. It's gambling instead of crafting.

Last Epoch and even Inquisitor Martyr do crafting and itemization way better IMHO.
That is an inspiration to draw from.
