Are you satisfied with the new patch's response to Trials?

I don't think it's a good system.

We already have health/ES/etc to check if you're getting hit too often. Honor is weird on top of that.

I think the system should be wholly re-imagined. I'd steal from Hades: Let the player pick challenges for themselves, and to proceed they need to pick enough to be worthy. You need to have at least X points of challenge to proceed. Then there's interesting choices around "can I give up flasks while also taking double enemy count?" or whatever.

That would be better because:
- Players make more informed choices. People like making choices.
- It doesn't negate the game's whole life/armor/evade systems like the current honor system does.

Choosing what path to take is fine, though repeating the whole thing is kind of tedious.

It really is like Hades, come to think of it, but having two ways of tracking health is not good.

One of the problems with forums, especially for video game discussion, is the average level of analysis seems to be "I enjoy it. You suck." That's probably as frustrating as the trials are.
Step in a right direction but still a long way to go.

TOTA my GOAT we need you.
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.

Buffs mean nothing when the game is fundamentally flawed at it's base level.

they'd have to completely start from scratch and make an actual good game that they settled on. Right now you can see all the directions they wanted to go and they did instead of picking one direction and making a good game.

buffs, bug fixes, nerfs, dodging being slightly better are not what this game needs.

The game still has a lot of issues, true, but I think you're too harsh. They're moving in the right direction in my opinion, and this patch (not deployed yet I think, I'll have to log in) makes more optimistic that the game will keep improving. :)
At first I'm ok with first ascendency. With you die you have to repeat. Kinda frustrated but it is what it is.

BUT when I'm doing the 3rd time I die 2 time to the last boss boss and have to redo it 4 times it is really disgusting !!

I genuinely feel the developers don't respect players time.

I have no complaints about the game being hard and I'm liking it. BUT the trials is on whole other level of disrespect!!!

They could have just maintain going in 1 time but up the difficulty. But why make us go thru it 2 time? If the 4th ascendency is doing 3 time. I think I'm quitting this shit. This is too much!!

This is copy and pasted from steam:

"Trial of the Sekhemas

Players were finding Trial of the Sekhemas particularly frustrating in close range so we’ve reworked how Honour Damage scales when in close range, as well as fixing an important bug that was causing players to take far too much Honour Damage from Damage over Time.

Honour Damage now scales down based on distance to enemies, when in close range you’ll take 35% less Honour Damage, tapering off as you are further away from Monsters.

Fixed a bug where Damage over Time was dealing thrice as much damage to Honour as intended, and fixed a bug where Honour Resistance was only applying to two-thirds of that damage. (This was confusing for us too)

Skitter Golems no longer use basic attacks and instead now just explode.

Serpent Clans burrow and ambush attack now has improved visual telegraphing and cannot be used from as far away.

Volcanoes created by Rattlecage’s Fissure Slam now last half the duration."

Are you happy with these changes? Personally, I think the honor mechanic should be completely removed. A range based 35% decrease for melee means nothing.

But perhaps the biggest, most obnoxious aspect of the trial, is needing to farm the entry items. I've done the trial twice on Cruel, and it has been about 20 hours of play since I've found an entry item.

I've pretty much stopped playing. I have no desire to continue the game if I'm going to have to farm for 40 hours to enter a trial that I will probably fail because of RNG.

Thoughts?

Not a fan. Won't stop playing, but will not support financially further. Not a huge fan of POE1, especially sanctum & ult. Not sure what to do now. I miss lab.

Have a newborn. Both ascendancy methods are an awful disrespect to player time at the core experience.
Okay me and a friend are currently in here now trying to get our 3rd ascendancy.

I dont know what they have done to this trial but we are DEFINATELY getting punished more for being in close mele range more than we were before the patch.

we are losing CRAZY amounts of honor now.

If feels like we are losing 35% MORE honor now not less.
I think both trials—Trial of the Sekhemas and Trial of Chaos—are still frustrating. Sekhemas because of the honor mechanics, and Chaos due to the unfair debuff, especially at level 38. It's not challenging, just frustrating, and it makes me want to stop playing the game.

Bring back the Labs... they were much better.
It's fine now
I just dont like how long it takes to run 3 full things of sekhemas. nearly 30 minutes like...cmon now
