PoE2 doesn't feel hard. It just feels tedious.

Completed 4 characters so far on EA across 50 or so hours. I tried to play this game as if it were my first ARPG (even though I have thousands of hours in PoE1 and D2 etc), and didn't follow a build guide for any of the classes I played.

From a completely "am I having fun standpoint"? Not really. For each one of my characters, I hit a soft wall around late Act 2 and early Act 3.

I was flying through Act 1 and most of Act 2 just fine, but it doesn't matter which build I was playing, by late Act 2, it just felt like my gems weren't leveling up as fast as monsters were getting strong. Boss fights took 3x as long as before, and since mobs move just as fast as they do in PoE1 (while I have 10% move speed in PoE2), what this meant was:

I basically have to kite every single mob around for like 10 seconds. Monsters aren't tough to beat, but they move so fast that it just feels like it's the same formula every time. I encounter a mob, run backwards while shooting until they die, rinse, repeat. This got really old after awhile, since mobs' HP kept increasing and kiting kept taking longer and longer.

I mean, could I run around for 7min whittling down a boss's HP? Sure, but at that point it just feels like work because GGG decided to arbitrarily set a boss's HP at 3x higher.

Overall I get what GGG is trying to do: slow the game down. But people really do come to PoE/ARPG's for the power fantasy. While PoE 1 is on the very far end of superhuman power, PoE2 is a bit too tedious in pace for my liking. Not sure I'll be coming back to PoE2.

It is sad that we have to go through this with every ARPG since Diablo 2. NEWS FLASH DEVS: Players want to feel powerful and find good loot. We dont want to be punched in the face every time we log in because you make your game tedious.

NO ONE PLAYS ARPGS FOR DIFFICULTY. They play it to find rare loot and blow things up with it.
May 15th 2012 - The day the king of ARPGs died. January 23rd 2013 - A new king takes the throne.
I play ARPGs for difficulty and I think the game is just right bordering on too easy. Current loot is great. Gameplay is great and there's a lot of outplaying possible. Most system changes are great. New passive tree is great.

We just need better campaign map generation and a better way of getting ascendancies that doesn't involve stupid minigames.
Internet is filled with Korean games where you look powerful and pay for good loot.

Some people like the challenge rather then the felling of just being a all powerfull being in the "we are all champions" mentality.
Guess my name is no one. I play action rpgs for challenging combat. Power fantasies get boring really quickly.

I don't want POE2 to become trivial. Devs should adjust some damage so there won't be so many oneshots if you miss dodge roll by 0.1 second but I love how the game plays. I prefer slower pace rather than the pace of POE1. I made my own bow/crossbow hybrid lightning build on gemling merc and bosses started to melt since a1 cruel difficulty so there is power.

no want it to be trivial, they want it to be fun and not tedious. for me it's become boring around ACT 4. it never did happend in poe or most of arpg i did play, the only one i have in mind that did become a chore to finish it's diablo 4, because it was not fun and borderline annoying at the end. not hard, not trivial just boring and tedious.

i find they have take questionable direction, a few example is the size of the map or the fact that when you die everything respawn. while making available to reset the area to the waypoint.

they have make death punishing, what is not a good idea, soul like game have death as a core mechanic, you can loose soul, because you was unable to get it back, but that your fault. here when you die you are punched in the face and ask to restart from 0, while loosing exp.

i think they need to rethink how they see difficulty. death mustn't be frustrating... it must fuel the will of the player to become better...

yes it's an early access and that now, that we must tell them everything wrong with the game.
Bosses are great. Ability to get timely upgrades ( you down grade a LOT leveling) is absurd. Been trying for 4 days to upgrade ONE item with no luck.. By the time I upgrade ONE item it'll be past time to upgrade again.. COOP loot is split off ONE person drop rates. After 100 hours my buddies refunded the game
because at level 60 they were still wearing level 2-11 gear... Come to find out we were all splitting ONE PERSONS drop rate amongst us.. Found this out buy playing solo for a few hours. Loots 4x better now and even with that it's day 4 trying to make or find a pair of gloves. Hate to think how long it'll take to make or find all slot upgrades atm. 8 months ? Are seasons going to be a full year?
