you know how i know its not a skill issue?

go into game blind.. play multiple builds

struggle bus

ok fine i'll be a sheep.. i'll follow a guide

oh looky games so much easier now

so it wasnt a skill issue after all.. i can obviously get thru the campaign using a build guide.. its just certain skills are useless

so obviously my mechanics are not the issue. i can obviously "beat" the content..
its the game itself thats off.

certain combinations and play styles just dont work. period
you have to play certain things certain ways.

thats not a skill issue.. thats a game design issue. checkmate

Exactly. The moment you copy a meta build the game becomes actually playable and maybe even a bit fun. The difference is like night and day.
I don't disagree, but keep in mind we're in version 0.1, not 1.0 and the game is only 10 days old. It's hard to balance all skills while not completely destroying others. It takes time.

Oh but it is. It's just that the "elite" part of the playerbase defines skill as playing the game instead of going to work. 10+ hours a day of "theorycrafting" would have allowed you to find this path without blindly following the guide of some guy who makes money by playing the game for 15+ hours a day.
Which blind builds did you play?

Which build guide did you follow?

If you "blind play" the game like it's POE1 and completely ignore every tool and mechanic Path 2 puts in front of you to clear content, then follow a build guide that makes use of those tools, then yeah - being a "meta sheeple" will work better because you're actually playing Path 2 like it's Path 2.

many cases I've seen of "this isn't a skill issue, the game is broken and overtuned!" boil down to "I'm playing like this is POE1 and not using ANY of the skills, systems, or tools the game is trying to give me to make this easier, failing, and now I'm blaming the game I'm refusing to play." Which, sorry to say...is a skill issue.
She/Her
the moment you follow a build gude you are no longer on a journey playing a game, you are following a roadmap from Coast to Coast.

tho you need to remember that some of this is just knowledge you shuold know. if you dont know why you are following the map, you are in trouble regardless you should at least know why you are using the points you are using.

In theory this is why POE2 should be much less of a spreadsheet fest than POE1 is.
So basically you admit you can't make a good build and then say "it's not a skill issue"?

Waaaaaaay to go with mutually exclusive statements.

As for the other point you're making - obviously you can't pick ANY skill and make it work just because you wish so.
Some of them will always be underpowered, in any game. Some of them will always be stronger, in any game. Some will require lots of additional preparation, while some other ones will be very usable right off the bat.

It exactly takes "skill" to decide which is which.

OP - you realize that coming up with a good build takes... skill... right?

If you could randomly select any combination of skills, passives, and supports, and it would all end up the same, you'd be playing more of a childrens coloring book than a game.

That's not to say build diversity is in a good spot, still plenty of work for them left to do there.

I also think respec costs are way, way too high in the early game currently. There's 0 room for a new player to learn to build. Hit us with high respec costs at endgame, not as people are learning the game.

you do realize i installed an ACTION RPG.. not a build planner

the GAME is the content.. the build should not be a factor

in mario.. it dont matter if you have the leaf, the flower or the star..
you can still beat the game as MARIO those are just cool bonus effects

i feel like some of you dont understand how video games work

the game is the game.. the "build" i choose is just the fantasy avatar i choose to beat the game in. a fantasy.. a skin.. my fantasy choosing.

Read the skills? they tell you how to use them and what they feed off. There is a guy with a very soothing voice who gives you basic ideas. just do those. Very early in the games life not everything is scalable not everything works. limited uniques I wouldn't go for some snowflake build. Monk has an attack that's very good at freezing people and an ice spike that explodes freeze. Learn how to play the game, then continue to learn how to break the game.
