Punishment needed for fake traders
|
It appears the market is currently over-run with fake traders - people posting things at low prices with no intention of ever selling them.
Their goal is to get others to also post that item at too low a price, then snap it up and resell it at a higher price. There needs to be some sort of punishment/trade lock out system for not selling a posted item or responding to trade requests, I can't think of another way to solve this without implementing a buy-on-click system, which I know GGG has stated they'll never do. As an alternative punishment, I think a swift quick in the nuts would do. However, I think shadow-banning their listings if they reach a certain threshold of trade requests ignored would be slightly easier to implement. Edit: If anyone can explain the issue with hiding an item from trade searches that has 100+ whispers from individual players in a given time period, with no responses from the poster, I'm all ears. I don't believe a compelling reason has been given yet (other than from our token price fixer). Last edited by pattw555#0071 on Dec 15, 2024, 3:43:43 PM Last bumped on Dec 15, 2024, 4:22:48 PM

Great idea, my friend. I think GGG will surely create a whole department to monitor trade for possibility of someone being a mean mean person

That is price fixing, it always existed in PoE1, unfortunately I find it difficult to find a solution. In PoE1 there is generally a base price that one sets from "poe ninja" or the discord server "tft"

I had to whisper over 100+ people to get a 1Ex Unique horrible experience.
PoE needs WOW-like AH. D2 FG websites worked better than PoE trade. This is unacepptable. |

An auction house would be cool.

You can still price fix with an auction house. It won't stop the problem though it will make trading easier.

" Found the price fixer lol. Also, this has nothing to do with "being mean", but on the topic, this may help with your reading comprehension: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FexV4DfG1Bc Last edited by pattw555#0071 on Dec 15, 2024, 2:59:20 PM

Price fixing on an AH requires risk. There is no risk when you can list a fake price and just ignore buyers. That's the problem.

|
" This is exactly it, the current system allows you to put an item out at an absurdly low price with 0 skin in the game. |
|
" There's also the second type of price fixing, which is an item monopoly. A group of people can instantly buy out all of a popular item, then re-list it at any price they want. AH would make this infinitely worse. |
