Allow For Same Support Gem On Several Skills

Hello GGG!
I've learned that one cannot use the same support gems om several skills. For instance: I would like to use Cold Penetration on both Comet and Frost Wall. The game doesn't allow me do that. I would also like to use Spell Echo on both Ice Nova and Comet.

Any chance this will be changed in the future?

Very unlikely. GGG made quite a big deal about that being a design feature when they were doing streamer interviews. That said, there is a unique helmet that allows two copies of the same support on different skills, and the gemling legionnaire can also do a similar thing so there are already ways to get around it.

+1 this is a big issue for me!

I really wanted to play a purely lightning Monk, but the game basically tells me "No, you can't" because there aren't enough lightning support gems to buff it, so you're basically forced to go for multi element (lightning + ice) :(
Thank you.

This really saddens me. It makes it feel like a Diabloesque "restraint" where it limits one's own choices and build imagination (like something one would find in Diablo 3). I don't want to sacrifce a helm slot to be able to use Cold Penetration on two of my skills.

I really hope they change this in the future.

Yeah unfortunately I have to agree with the "Diabloesque" feeling of it, feels very gimmicky and as if the devs are saying "These are the builds we put in the game" rather than "These are all tools in the game, make your own build".

Hopefully they go back in this decision, along with the idea that skills can only be used on one weapon type...

It will never change, because this restriction leads to more interesting choices to make, not less.
Without this restriction every character will have every useful stat-relevant skill maxed out at their disposal with no drawbacks.
This restriction is what makes you have much more choice. Otherwise you would just put the strongest support in every slot, no need to think. With restriction you have to min max support usage. It's a great restriction and it shouldn't be removed.

That is not it though. There will still not be that much choice and with 5 supports we will instead just be limited to using 1 skill. A skill with 5 sub-par support gems will be useless except for the built in combos.
I would honestly want GGG to just add more interesting support gems. Way to interact with game mechanics like combo more or even introduce new ones rather than multiple of the same supports on all classes.
