no.. because their experence in POE1 is that new players would not get mixed nodes because they felt thy were wasting half their bonus.
But I think this should not be.. Keep the starting valid for both.

The "monsters" that go past ur minions are made mostly from these 2 archetypes, first being an actual monster who has charge and just charges to "backline" by default. The second is "monster" who is actually an intellectual humanoid being, which I think is amazing design, why would intellectual being hit irrelevant sponge to accomplish killing the summoner? They wouldn't, hence the diving.

However, I trust GGG will eventually fix the broken pathing and abysmal aggro mechanics and minions will be viable. That's the point here - any discussions of the state of builds are meaningless.
I love my current build, because it's elegant, relying on six interacting skills with minion abilities just gravy on that cake, but so many things will be fixed adjusted over the course of this beta that it is pointless to worry about it. Our role is to provide feedback in the most mature, respectful way possible, without calling this trash or that trash.
That's my take. Let's try to behave like courteous adults and help them fine tune this game into the masterpiece it has the potential to be.
Funny is that the shock totem of the warrior is quite good at drawing aggro

I run two brutes, 1 storm, 5 fire mages and the brutes actually seem to improve the tanking for you aspect. I supported them with all the stun build up I can find and it saved me on bosses a couple of time. Sure it is a damage loss over more fire mages, but the hound and the spirits alone are not enough of a meat shied.
