idea: design the endgame to be able to change builds regularly and without effort
Hello.
I think what this game needs for endgame is the ability to change builds regularly without much effort. The current respec costs are too high for that. The reasons for that are: -experimenting with new builds and skill combinations is fun and stays fun for a really long time -if you find a new good weapon (or other item) it would be nice to be able to quickly build your build around it, that makes finding items more exciting than having to farm lots of gold first to be able to finally use the item -even really enjoyable builds get boring after having played them for too long, being able to freely change to new builds makes the game enjoyable for a long term Last bumped on Dec 14, 2024, 6:50:14 PM

Completely Disagree. Want a new build? Make a new character.

Please give reasons for your opinion and not merely disagree.

Diablo 3 did that. As a result people respecced into each build archetype, played around with it for an hour or two and then never touched the game again. Its not a good idea for a game that is about grinding your way to a great build.

" the game was positioned as try-it-all style. you'll make it work trying new combos of interactions between skills, styles and elements. what we now have is the same old meta-shit faceroll build-fest as b4 | |
" Literally nothing keeps you from trying new combos. Some money keeps you from fully committing to a certain build change. Last edited by just_dont#6539 on Dec 13, 2024, 6:45:14 PM

Sounds to me like Diablo 3 didn't simply have interesting builds to play.
I don't find waiting to play a build (=grinding for it) more interesting than playing a build. If thats your view point, I don't really understand it. |

" The whole point is to build your character form the start. Its like wanting a button in Minecraft that instantly builds all the buildings for you. Then whats the point of playing the game? You just want to skip straight into Congratulations screen. |

Or use the POE1 solution, don't make the campaign take 30-40 hours, but 6-8 hours for a first playthrough and easily less than 5 for a subsequent playthrough.
GGG have just lost sight of what makes a game massively replayable over a decade. It isn't spending 50+ hours on campaign every 3 months assuming you want to try 2 or 3 builds. Last edited by XeonPOE#7768 on Dec 14, 2024, 6:26:00 AM
