Too much loot = Easier game = Less memorable

I'm still going through the campaign because I don't have as much time to play. I've been having fun, mostly. Yes, I died to some bosses multiple times, but it pushed me to actually use all the game's systems. Using orbs instead of saving them, disenchanting, buying from merchants and actually paying attention to boss mechanics!

I played 3 hours of the new update and already my character is decked out in full rare gear, on level, and I'm beating bosses first-try while only paying attention to the single one-shot mechanic. Heck, I took down half a bosses HP bar in a single stun-cycle.

Is it faster? Yes. Do I get more loot? Yes. Do I remember the last 5 bosses I killed? Only one, because it's where I ended my game session. Does getting a rare drop feel good? Not really, because I'll get another in the next 5 minutes.

At this rate, I'm gonna go back to saving all my currency, because those 3 hours felt like going through the motions rather than actually gaming. This is why I could never get invested into PoE1, despite it being called the "spiritual successor" to D2, and why I got bored playing D4.

Funnily enough, mob encounters feel tougher than bosses now. For those who want to know - monk.

I don't know if PoE2 is going to become just another loot-rolling sim where all the stuff you collect serves to turn the gameplay experience into auto-play. I hope not, because before the patch, the campaign was intense and memorable.

I don't want to just speed through everything so I can get into the end-game loop. I'm bored of that. I want to learn different characters, I want to have to get creative with builds and gear, I want to feel like I'm overcoming challenges, not just pulling a lever to get lots of colorful text.

PoE 1 has 100x more loot yet it's gained the popularity and dedicated playerbase it has because people enjoy that. You wouldn't even have PoE 2 were it not for everyone buying supporter packs after exilecon 2019, when they were promised an expansion not whatever this dark-souls parody of a game is btw.
PoE 1 has far more loot than this, I'm enjoying myself thoroughly. Your points are mute.
95% of the rares you find are complete garbage, you must be getting extremely lucky. And of those 5% maybe 1% are worth more than 1 exalt. A good peice of gear with res and life is going to be like 5ex at least, with good rolls 10-20ex, with good rolls and good secondary stats 30-50ex.

Early game was way too punishing, maybe if it was a single player non live service 1 play through and done game sure it was fine before, but then it would be dead some time after launch like grim yawn and whatever garbage arpgs people are playing besides this and D4.

PoE is popular, and has been for a decade+ because it has unlimited replayability, loot is central to that.

Until you spend at least 100ex on gear you probably aren't going to be anyway near ele res capped, and definetely not chaos res capped, which GL with that because they ramped up chaos damage in this game as a consequence of no negative chaos res. Thats just to get res capped, we aren't even talking about getting res cap gear that also has good defensive rolls.

I'm one of those supporters with several family members who have also bought the same and more so i think i qualify to say that poe1 thrived because there was no real d2 alternative. This game (poe2) is far from a parody but i can see you are putting your own short comings as a player of the game into salty words. It's not a good look.

poe2 IS the superior product against poe1 and this will will become abundantly clear as we edge towards full release and thereafter. Poe1 was an anomaly at a time when we were starved of good arpg's.
GGG said they're still gonna develop PoE1 alongside PoE2. They explicitly said it's because some players may prefer that over this new experience.

So, I'm wondering why you all who love PoE1 so much want to switch off it to a new game? And why do you want the new game to be same thing as the old one? What's the point of even playing a new game, then? Visuals?
PoE 1 is going to die, no WASD, looks jarring after playing 2, and its a bloated ass mess. Sure it might get like 40-50k people playing, but its never going to break 100k ever again, especially with 6 month leagues or lazy/bad leagues.

Shills will tell you PoE2 isn't going to cannabalize resources from it, but they are just morons. Every game company that makes a second game tries to tell people it wont but it always does. All the resources being wasted on the dead on arrival game soulframe makes me weep what could have been put into warframe for instance. Or how hyenas just magically coincided with TWW3 getting virtually no updates and shit ones for 2 years.

No, I just salvaged all those rares into a regal orb and used it on a magic staff I bought from a vendor that was a decent starting point, then threw some extra modifiers on it. Pre-patch, this alone turned the fight against Draven from losing my entire life flask two thirds of the way, to taking him down with only a dozen well timed hits.
Please do not use exalts on leveling gear lol. 1 EX can buy you gear that is infinitely better than whatever you are finding/upgrading I promise.

Highly doubt that all of your rares are the top base types for your level. You probably have a few current level modifiers.
