Instead of removing it, how bout a /resetdeaths counter so those who want to know just how often they've kicked the bucket in game could still do so.

Even better.

You're wrong.

It allows for a quantifiable and objective measure of whether or not a player is doing better with a current character than a previous one in terms of surviving the pitfalls of Wraeclast.

I'm in an abusive relationship with life. It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

The reason why I want to see it removed is because I can't stand dying.

I don't play HC because it's easier to attain wealth in Default, yet a little part of me dies every time my character dies.

I would rather de-level than having a death counter higher than 0.

I just finished Merciless with a new character, but it had 5 deaths at Lv. 70, so I had to delete it because I couldn't feel well with those deaths.

Dude, you're sick. Get some help. Soon.

And add a /show deathcounterresets command to allow players to see how many times they've reset the death counter.

If you don't want it keeping track of your deaths then play Hardcore and bam, it will always return 0.

My first character: level 71 duelist

/deaths = 173
Today I descend to God hood, and your death shall pave the way.

Is that so? And when your character dies in HC, it starts counting deaths in normal mode.

The suggestion to add a counter reset doesn't change anything for players that enjoy counting their deaths.

It simply allows players who don't like to do it to "turn it off", so to speak.

Anyone who disagrees with a simple, harmless idea like that either gets an e-boon from comparing death counts, or loves to spend time antagonizing people - maybe both.

I personally don't care about the death count, but I acknowledge it may bother some people.
There are those with diseases where they must have everything symmetrical, neat and organized, etc.
Making fun of people isn't a disease, but it's alot worse.

I play as ranger with acrobatics, sometime I'm not quick enough, and unique enemy's hit goes through my evasion and dodge - and BAM! You're dead. If I cared about my deaths, I would have played for some crazy tanky [insert build name] or on hardcore. I do not, because I play for fun.
/deaths just allows me to see if I was more awesome in this act than in previous one. So no, it would be a pity if this feature got removed.
Anyway, time to play some phase dodging with Piety.
