It is obviously working as intended. You are technically binding your skills to your soul, which makes you pay the price in mind and blood.
Blood Magic always converted Mana Costs to Life costs, so if a skill has Life + Mana costs those would add up, just alone by logic. You are trying to "kill" the downside of something with a clear description that it would not do that. Don't try to spam-beg for something that works as it should. the issue is it states BASE indicating that its the original skill cost not the total mana cost when supports are added. this makes taking blood witch extremely risky, you cant use any skills that cost a lot (and use supports).
curses for example on a 2 link (despair + impending + decaying) costs around 250 mana so 250 mana + 250 life for just cursing is brutal (point of which is to be able to curse), this then means you cant 6 link a curse unless you use blasphemy, the crit nodes for blood witch would make for a good cast on crit which again you can really do as the trigger spells cost making it easy to kill your self. this ascendancy is honestly only good for a very narrow amount of builds due to the forced first node and that should not be the case for ascendancies. even the node curses do not expire is lack luster, instant activation or an additional curse or increased presence would be of more use or a mixture of a few i should need to hmm and haaa on what to take. A better iteration would be having each main node adding to cost. So any first main node closet to you gives a base life cost of 10% of mana cost then the node after that costs more so 15% then the crit and es to life nodes are say 20%. or sanguine = 30% base mana cost 2nd modes = 10% 3rd node = 20% (literally anything that scales is better)_ This would allow the cost to scale with power so you aren't punished at the start for taking this in normal difficulty where your life pool is significantly less. but base mana cost to me should be before multipliers. its weird but i honestly think the calcs on the leech are on base spell damage and the calc on the cost is on total mana cost lol P.s allow us to change ascendancies Last edited by Drayid#1735 on Dec 11, 2024, 7:16:35 AM

+1 It feels very punishing to play. If I channel my Bonestorm for like 2 sec I lose 300-400 life and just about get that back with leech. I only got a 4 link.

I feel thematically blood magic and bloodmage should work togheter. But with 100% more cost there is no way you can make anything work with it. You cannot realistically take blood magic and bloodmage.

Same issue here. Based on the explanation in game that Blood Magic's 'CONVERTED' occurs prior to other factor, and that Sanguinmancy takes a base cost - you could assume that your skills no longer have a base mana cost to apply.
Thanks for the heads up as well @Grundlemar#1347 - otherwise I would have tried to respec. I know GGG are on Christmas break still - but hopefully they can fix this quickly in the new year. |
