Basically it is a new equipment type that allows you to customize your loot experience and increase the amount of loot you find for YOUR specific character. Figurines.
The loot does not just "drop" in this game, like in other arpgs.
You're supposed to BUY (in easy mode) or GAMBLE (in ssf mode) your gear. You fight all those monsters for currency.

Loot being awful has carried over from PoE1. I don't think GGG is nice enough to improve random loot affixes across the board. It's especially bad in PoE2 because there is no crafting.
Yup loot is awful and there's very little reward for playing the endgame right now.

EXP is way too hard to get 90+, dying is way too easy and you lose too much EXP for overtuned deaths that feel like shit, Atlas is an absolute chore and way too RNG heavy to care about, etc etc. So loot really becomes the main draw for the average endgame player, and it's BAD.

Not exaggerating when I say that 99% of all rares and 100% of all uniques so far this league have been trash. I don't even want to pick up and identify rares anymore... it's as bad as it was in D4, or worse. Uniques need a lot of help, Rares as a whole need help, and Crafting needs a complete redesign.

I think this has caused some of the confusion with IIR. If IIR isn't bugged and/or overpowered, then why is the loot so incredibly awful otherwise?
GGG staff if you ever bother to look at this; you need to let the players win once in a while so there is somewhat of a rewarding experience and people can mostly enjoy the time they spend on the game.

The only reason i bother identifying rares is because if it has 6 affixes you get 2 regal shards instead of 1.
Loot is so bad in this game why even bother.
I have been in endgame 200+ hours 1 divine drop wtf?
I thought poe 1 was stingy with loot wow.

If stuff would at least drop identified, so we can just hide garbage via lootfilter right off the bat, totally random loot might actually work...

But no. You literally have to either spend currency on every single item or waddle back out of the map every 5 drops and identify those only to vendor them all anyway.

And there is NO crafting in PoE2 btw. It's a slot machine. At best.

The best source of items is a website outside of the game, where you can make RMT botters rich and buy duped and stolen items so they get currency to sell for $$$ on THEIR websites.
And one of the best sources of items in SSF is spending gold to gamble on items...
Let that sink in.

PoE1 at least had targeted crafting to soften the shittiness of completely random drops a bit. All of it but Essences got removed.
PoE2, as a result, is just a Casino with extra steps. And an RMT botter's wet dream.

It's ridiculous, no matter how many GGG-bought White-Knighters defend it...
