Absolutely disapointed -- This game is hard, and not in a fun way.

It's just Ruthless 2 as it is.

I like bosses, pace if "fine".

But mobs that surround you (or half surround with other half is wall) and no chance to get out - sucks. They are fast, Im still slow.
Im lacking of phasing/flamedash/at lest give me ruthless dash that can phase through mobs, all casters/archers Im playing with (in voice comm) complain about surroundings. It's not fun to lure mobs and kite back.

You can easily avoid mechanics and dodge out of stuff with a ranged character.

YOU may be able to, but I don't have the reaction times I used to. I miss the telegraphs half the time, and when I do see them I'm too slow to dodge out of the way.

Getting old sucks
Humans are literaly best nowdays. (trash)
Non construcive critisism.
For science, thats coming from 40+ dad.
I am not enjoying the game either.
I play diablo-like games on HC and get top tier achievemetns so it's not like I am new to the genre. This game was interesting in the beginning. Then it boiled down to the same pattern:
Small round arena, lot of crap on the ground (often hard to see), endless attacks that bascially one-shot you unless you dodge roll. So you dodge roll. Every 10 seconds there might be a window of opportunity to do a quick attack on the boss. And back to dodge rolling. After you almost kill a boss he transfroms, gets full health back, new abilites and the circle continues.
The problem it that it got repetitive very fast and it's just BORING. Plus it's overly hard. The attacks are too powerful, too punishing for a new player experience.
The playstyle caters to a very nieche audience. They should have made a special mode in PoE called Dark Soul Arenas and take this stuff there.
Pity. I really was looking forward to this game.
The issue I have with WASD is

The game will inevitably turn into a button spam game. Like, the whole skill bar full with attacks and spells to keep you alive and kill everything dead.

This was the case in POE too.

But you forget that people have only 4 fingers and a thumb. Thumb for dodging, 2 fingers to move around, 1 finger for flasks, one for all the allocated skills.....

When I learned guitar I thought it would be hard to grip the right strings and chords... but damn, WASD movement in POE is simply impossible.

No other game like CS GO or LoL or Guild Wars 2 or Grim Dawn or OW2 is THIS impossible to play.

WASD feels like its made for those korean StarCraft gamers who can do like 600 clicks per seconds and move their fingers at light speed.

But we are talking about no lifers here who have nothing better to do than coping with life via learning how to be super fast at a video game.

No normal human being has the time and interest in this. People are not made for this stuff. Look how many pros use braces on their wrists. Why?

Because they are developing carpal tunnel and they do think their tenderness and tingling in the wrist and fingers is "just temporary".

Crazy.

I for one won't submit to that, so even if i die a million times, I am not switching to WASD tank controls.
Prefacing my post by saying that I have the utmost confidence that GGG will iterate and improve until this becomes an absolute banger of a game, because they've proved themselves time and again. That said, nothing gets fixed without feedback.

I have to agree that it's not what I wanted. I'm an action game and souls-like lover, demon's souls, nioh 2 etc are some of my favorite games of all time. I even like punishing roguelikes. I love difficult games but I want to have FUN while I'm struggling and IF it is an action game I want it to feel like the game hands me the tools to move well.

Now I feel like every kit I've tried leaves me feeling slow, with few attack options that feel like they do anything and it turns into a tedious struggle. It feels like PoE 2 wants to you to be a very mobile but at the same time left out all the agility tools for the player to use. It's a slog, and that's not what it should be.

Granted, I was never super good at PoE. Any build I made myself never really made it past level 80, but I feel like I can hold my own and if I'm not good at PoE I'm pretty great at action games.

Souls veteran here. So played for about 2-3h today (East Asia here and servers were down during most of the day and down again now). Chose Ranger, WASD. Spent a lot of time researching the skill tree so only got to level 7, didn't die once, and other than the 1st boss, barely had to heal. From the Witch boss and the Devourer to the last one I just fought (forgot the name), got hit maybe 1-2 times per boss fight, and never came close to dying clearing the maps. Loot drops been mediocre, still using the starter weapon. All skill points into damage.

Found WASD better for me since movement and dodging is entirely controlled by my left hand on the keyboard, and dodging is second nature since most of my gaming time the last 3-4 months were Elden Ring and Wukong. Can't speak for melee, but if you're ranged and dying all the time to bosses, then maybe you're not paying enough attention to boss attacks. I suspect some players are experiencing the isometric ARPG equivalent of the Grafted Scion/Tree Sentinel/Wandering Wight, as a player you're not in control of the fight here, you can't just stand still most of the time and when you attack you shouldn't just spam your attacks without paying attention to boss movements.

Unlike the actual Souls games, you can't stagger or poise break the bosses to give yourself a guaranteed attack/critical hit window, the bosses don't give a sxxt about what you're doing, they just do their own thing. So you need to stay on the move and react to bosses. To compensate, you have all the stun/freeze CC skills, learn to use them properly. I'll see how hard the Act 1 end boss is when I get there, but so far there has been nothing special.

Done for the day. Ranger. WASD. Lvl 8 now, death count 0, total times healed since 1st boss: 1. This is nowhere near as hard as an actual Souls game, dodging may look slow and there is a pause inbetween dodges but that's GGG's subtle way of telling you to not spam rolling. Learn the new controls and pay attention to boss attacks.

Btw, got an Exalted orb from the last boss I killed before logoff, so Exalted are common now? Considering I haven't had a transmutation or regal orb drop yet it seems funny.
I can handle everything else, but bosses have way too much health these fights are going on way too long
I gave up in act 2 when I realized that ascendancies can and will make your character objectively worse. This is not it.

I would love to keep supporting PoE1 but gigigi will just waste my money on this shitshow and not improve PoE1 in the slightest.
you literally do not have to be zizaran to enjoy it. you just have to go kill some monsters to grind some levels and gear. it's not that hard.
