Disappointed with GGG Support: Why My $485 Spend Didn’t Earn Me a PoE2 Early Access Key
It was my understanding that GGG’s support was decently well regarded, so this situation came as a big surprise to me.
tl:dr Despite spending $485 lifetime, GGG support will not provide an EA PoE2 key nor a refund/exchange for a $30 pack to acquire the key instead. Order of events: 11/21 PoE2 Early Access Announcement I found out that you need $480 lifetime purchases to receive a “free” key. What I did not know is that the $480 lifetime required that entirely to be spent before the early access announcement. I had $455 lifetime spent before the announcement. (I used the browser github script to get this number). I bought the $30 Paladin pack after the announcement thinking that would put me at $480+ to receive the key. I think this is a win/win. I get a few extra MTXs, it’s the same price as the EA key pack. 11/22, I reached out via email to see that my account doesn’t have a Path of Exile 2 early access key. I thought this might be enough time to have it ‘register.’ Support responds that I need to wait til when Early Access period before emailing back. I think, “okay, I’ll just try again before the early access period”. 12/1, I emailed again inquiring regarding the early access key. 12/2, they respond that all accounts that qualified for early access keys would have received them. I ask support to verify that my account has the correct amount spent. I verify account information. This is when I am informed that the lifetime spend must have been before the early access announcement and that the $30 pack does not count. I ask to have that previous purchase to be refunded (I would just buy the key pack instead). Support denies my refund because it was outside 48 hours. I ask to have that $30 pack changed from the MTX pack to the EA key pack. (It’s the same amount of money.) They say they cannot do this. I ask to have my situation escalated to a manager/supervisor. They again deny my request. 12/3, I ask to have those MTX that were credited to my account deleted in exchange for an EA key. I am currently waiting on a response. Given the responses thus far, I do not have high hopes for this request to be met. Am I wrong here? I don’t think I’m being unreasonable. I haven’t spent the most time out of anybody in PoE (1500+ hours), nor have I spent the most money ($485 now), nor am I streamer or somebody like that, but I would think that they would want to engender some sort of positive relationship with people like me. This experience has really soured me on GGG and I just don’t understand why they have a complete lack of accommodation in this situation. Full disclosure: In case somebody tries to go back through my post history to show I’m just a GGG hater. I have not had the highest opinion on the game in awhile. I was somebody who got into PoE playing minions and other low APM builds (cyclone CoC, autobombers, RF, etc) and the amount of changes to nerf those playstyles either entirely or requiring tons of investment has hurt my enjoyment over the years (RF is an exception). Expedition league was a bit of a flashpoint for that. That being said, I’ve still played it here and there, but my enthusiasm has waned. Last bumped on Dec 3, 2024, 1:45:49 PM

The hype surrounding PoE2 is clouding the fact that GGG has intentionally and repeatedly spat in the faces of their players, even those that have put thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars into their game.

If this is true that is absolute BS! Both my wife and I are above the threshold. Where did GGG actually ever state that it had to be BEFORE the announcement? That is absolutely beyond scummy if true.

your post is too long and i don't even need to read through it, I just need to read the title "$485 spend didn't earn a poe2 early access"
That statement above alone is enough to show GGG has dropped the ball on this. Understandably this whole "policy" and sending out EA keys are handled by a different team, and they did a extremely bad job there. Just make it that as soon as your total spent reached 480$ in a single account, you're automatically gifted a EA key directly into your account. Period. No need to make stupid clauses, conditions, policies to further complicate things. Applicability period is of course all the way until end of EA. Done. |

" That is kind of why they made this thread i assume, They already went through the support process a number of times and made efforts to escalate and resolve the issue in a reasonable manner and likely felt this thread was their last recourse. And there is something we as a community can do, We can say how we feel about it and maybe ask GGG to figure out a way to the other side of this canyon we find ourselves at. They have been way to late to clarify how this worked There's been plenty of opportunity to do so on this very forum on all the posts discussing this |
