[POE2] Ascendancies - Don't discourage players from experimentation

i would agree with cow when he said that standard has become a dumping ground somewhat and that the game has moved towards temp league being the main focus.

hes right on that too.

hes even right that the devs are not focusing much on standard. he can be right when he says that temp league is where 90% players are at we dont know the real numbers but he can be right on that.

and i do agree that temp leagues are the current trend and that's where the majority of the players are at now and i d even go as far to say its a good decision for GGG to focus on temp leagues.

but anything else he mentioned about how the game originally started with temp league being the core focus of the devs and how we're "in permanent denial" is simply wrong.

standard is a crucial part of poe's history. but in all honesty seeing him say we're in denial shows how much poe's history has been lost for him to think that way.

regardless. i m done here. its frustrating but i m not going to dig thru the archives to give definite proof. i ll just move on to other more important things.

cant wait for poe2 early access. really cant wait to see what NEW LEAGUE content they have waiting for us there

wink wink.

The Ascendancy options look massively unbalanced. You got Blood Mage which looks very easy to build around then you got Infernalist which looks like someone forgot to take their Adderall.

Same with PoE 1. Nothing changed.

I must admit that i havent touched d2 in ages. so i googled to verify.

Last Epoch - 2k-3k players (on Steam rn) = must admit that I hate perma option too and it was reason why I quit
Diablo 2 - I misclicked points when I tried new build and run out of resets, deleted character and abadoned game

Duno why GGG would like to copy games with 2% player base PoE.

Not really. Most PoE1 Ascendancy have 7-8 nodes. In PoE2 half the classes have 11 nodes and while this might seem like more options per Ascendancy I have doubts it'll work out that way.

Did you see them switch weapons for the skill + tree swap in that Ball Lightning video? I didn't and that's kinda my point here. Many Ascendancy options pigeon hole you into at best using a different skill of the same element/type. Which is pretty much just gem swapping.

this is why despite me seeing the value of permanency, i would still advocate for respecs.

passive tree respecs is in a comfortable position now since we can respec with gold.

locking ascendancy choices is something i disagree with. making it changeable the same way we have in poe1 is a good compromise where there is some tedium which discourages switching ascendancies casually but not to the point that its so restrictive that its better to reroll a new character.

lets be real. gaming trends have changed. not all of us are sweaters.
