Linux support for Poe 2

There is a report on reddit that with Nvidia, you need to change the renderer to DX12 (via a file edit since it doesn't launch).

Yeah, I also had to switch Vulkan to DX12 in the config file just to launch the game on Nvidia/Wayland.

It's kind of a shame because once Vulkan runs it gives much smoother framerates.
The Vulkan crashes always happen on startup and on some of my systems in the map loading screens as well.
I run poe2 on Linux with no issues. Proton just has to have experimental on and you're good.
I've been playing the Steam client on Linux (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS on AMD/Radeon, specifically) since launch with zero issues, and no special configuration changes needed. Valve has also rated the game as Playable on a Steam Deck, with the main issue being small in-game text that might be hard to read on the Deck's smaller screen. I'd say you should be good to go.
Stay sane, exiles!

Been years since I used Linux properly (still use it a a dumb node) but isn’t there some ‘windows emulator’ think it was called Wine or Vine or something?
Might be able to get PoE to run under that on a juicy PC

We use Proton nowadays, and it's a native implementation of large portions of the Windows API under Linux, not an emulation.

Most games work, and PoE also runs on the Steam Deck (I have tested it myself), which is also a Linux box (you can even get to a proper desktop, work on the console and I was even considering installing i3 as my window manager on it for bragging rights).

Thing is: a native Linux implementation would be even better, and we do not know at the moment how well PoE2 will operate in a Proton environment, but I think I will test this a few days after the 11th, when I'm able to take my fingers off the EA for an hour or two.

is proton actually allowed? if im not wrong it's virtualization and is virtualization actually allowed?

i really want to be done with windows, i hate it.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

I've been playing PoE on Linux since 2023. No issues. Poe1 ran better than it did on Windows. I've only ever played PoE2 on Ubuntu (Linux) through Steam, again, no issues.

I have had 3 system hang-ups while playing with Poe2 since the release of early access and have attributed it to experiencing normal bugs as one would during a beta, not to me using Linux.
