Sanctum for Ascendancy Discussion POE2
" in lab, you fail when you die, not when a monster farts in your general direction. |

I will not play this game long term if the progression remains locked behind these modes.

Posting here to add my opinion that it would be more fun to be buried alive in radioactive salt with many open wounds than it currently is to ascend in Path of Exile 2. Genuinely some of the least fun I've had in any game in recent memory.
even completing the trial doesn't feel good. there's no real sense of accomplishment because everything is based on RNG: whether I can clear the trial or not depends not on my skill or game sense, but on whether or not I get an affliction that bricks my run. Sanctum and ultimatum were the only two events that I disabled in PoE1 Atlas simply because of how unfun and randomly punishing they were, and yet those are the only methods to ascend in Path of Exile 2? I'll be going back to PoE1 pretty soon if this doesnt change. Labs was infinitely more fun and rewarding. |

Yeah I hate it as well. The honour system needs to be removed imo.

Worst idea in POE history. Failed 3rd trial on last floor. Not gonna try again, way too unenjoyable.
The insanity of thinking this is a good idea makes me fear for the future of this game. |

Seems most of the players dislike this new ascendency method. This is also need to be changed. I'm not saying it should be easier but should not forcing people to something that take too long to complete. I tried 2 times for 3rd ascendency and both I couldn't find enough source lines to fix my Honor amount in the map. It's totally random thingy.
In PoE 1 before I enter labyrinth I would like to get a lot of level ahead to make it much easier. So people want challange? They can enter immidately. But rpg games mostly about grinding to get better to overcome difficulty. This new thing in PoE2 is not about difficulty but annoying long stuff. Making a game slow and long is not making it enjoyable for a while later. GGG should consider this before it's too late. Last edited by Artoba84#7071 on Dec 14, 2024, 4:07:49 PM

One thing I have noticed about the trials in poe2 is that they take a long time to complete. I think this might be the real issue with them because if you could try again and it only took like a couple minutes to complete I don't think people would complain as much when they fail it. I think the issue will get better as people get better at it but it still might be true that the time length of the trials might be a bit too long even after people get good at it. A way to fix this might be as simple as giving everyone the movespeed boon at the start of it that could cut down on the amount of time you have to spend on it. I do understand some people really don't like sanctum that includes me I personally don't like it because I have bad internets in my area and not taking chip resolve damage is harder with bad nets.
TLDR Make the trials faster might make people hate it less they kind of take a long time to complete. |

I am so disappointed in the new ascendency system in PoE2. Why Sanctum and Ultimatum....why?
I believe GGG will lose many new players very fast because of this system. Not fun to be stuck like this in a game....not fun at all ! Cant wait for the new PoE1 league. At least I had fun in that game when I was coming back from work. This is not the case PoE2 where i spend 3 hours 'trying' trying to complete Sanctum to die one shot on the last boss just to get my ascendency. Two of my friends quit the game in the last days by rage quitting. I hope GGG read our comments to realize what can be improved in this new game...or I am afraid it wont last long (for me at least). |

I don't understand how you're supposed to realistically go from poe1 trials to poe2 trials, assuming you have only ever experienced Lab like I had.
Honor trials are barely tolerable if you happen to not get rares that dump aoe effects on the ground, but Ultimatum and Sekhemas is such an extreme jump in difficulty from Labs that I wonder if you forgot that people that came from 1 and didn't play too much are wanting to look at 2. The rest of the things in the game so far I've handled fine (I'm only level 41 in poe2 and not completed act 3 atm). Bosses are tough but manageable. Grounded effects from rares are a nuisance but fine if I focus. The trials were grueling, and far more difficult than anything the story throws at you by a mile if you do it on level. The Ultimatum and Sekhemas trials are recommended either way too early, or should be downgraded entirely to the Labyrinth of POE1, then upped to Sekhemas or an introductory version of Ultimatum. I am told from others more experienced than I that I'm not familiar enough with builds, yet at this point I can't exactly respec since it is too expensive without grinding hours into the Ultimatum. That's fine on Standard since I get quite a bit of loot from Ultimatum, but I don't understand how people do it on HC, let alone SSF HC. If the third trial is harder than either Ultimatum or Sekhemas, I don't think you'll attract anyone to your game quite frankly. I finally beat Ultimatum after about two to four hours of grinding the place for levels, but it wasn't fun. I didn't find Sekhemas very fun either as mostly melee. I could sit back and Glacial Cascade all day, but that is very boring to do. Last edited by Enjuden#3065 on Dec 14, 2024, 7:05:27 PM

" Yes, the issue is the length full stop. I don't care if I have to fight a tough boss, or run through some challenge rooms, but don't make me run through challenges for 20 minutes and THEN face a boss with one life. It's sadistic and about as far from fun as I can imagine. |
