Regarding Blessed Orbs and unhelpful chat message.

To summarize the posts above, Blessed Orbs work on:

Blessed Orbs do not work on:
  • Iron Rings because they don't have a variable value
  • Weapons and Offhand Items/Shields because they don't have a variable value (The only exceptions to this might be Light Quivers and the new spikey shields that replaced the evasion/energy shield armguards. They have a variable amounts on their implicit mods, but I've never tried using a Blessed Orb on them.)
  • Body Armor/Helms/Boots/Gloves because they don't have implicit values to modify (with the exception of certain high level body armors, which also have not been tested with Blessed Orbs as of yet.)

Thank you.

This just proved my point.

Hopefully GGG can see clearly why this item is not straightforward to use at all.

Perhaps one "straightforward-ization" would be to enable a small range when there wasn't? (eg. if it was +15 fixed, make it +12 to + 18, or +15 to +20) Thus making it work with less exceptions.

That said I understand that there is also a place for more complex / obscure mechanics and some people like it that way. I can simply ignore those Orbs myself or simplify: rings / belts / amulets (if it's iron ring then it won't work anyway).

( edit: removed the last two list items because I think those are obvious. )

Got me one of these today, are they rare drops? This sounds like an item that should be saved for end game, yes?
All hail the great necromancer!

Yes, save them.
