Monster Chaos Resistance values.

Could we get any estimate from GGG what are the values on monsters' Chaos Resistance?
Since we don't have any "Chaos Curse", it's impossible to determine, thus making any theorycrafting involing Chaos Damage (dealt by player) rather hard. Any response is much appreciated. IGN: Neonesis / Violetlight / Sirencurse /... I have too many alts...

" I'd imagine viper strike would be actually usable for something if monsters weren't littered with seemingly needless chaos resist. i too fas fo youuuuuuu

Viper strike is quite good for counteracting regeneration and dealing with elemental resists.

" Since we dont have any 'real' value for the hitpoints of the monsters (beside theorycrafting), what would it change to know that the scavengers in Cruel have 25% resist against chaos? (as example). As long as the monster stats are not completely known, its basically useless. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011

" What does HP have to do with that? If I can see that monster has 30% lightning resistance, and I'm doing around 500 lightning damage to it, and it dies fast, then my build is fine. Now, to do the same thing with Chaos Damage is impossible, because I see my killing speed, but have no idea if it's the resistance, or simply my damage being too low (and possibly unviable). Killspeed is always based on the ratio between damage and life...
a) you dont know the amount of enemies elemental resistances (your 30% lightning), same as for chaos. b) the damage output is (mostly) a mix of different damage types, making it hard to determine the different values 'really' applied on the enemy. I would be curious where you would take an chaos equivalent of your 500 lightning damage from ^^ c) chaos damage is mostly (beside some rare exceptions) a DOT component, therefor its more a "support" for your other damage sources than a killer of its own, IMHO. If a Viper Strike charges do 250 chaos damage each (over the given time), and I stack 4 of it and I can leave the foe behind, poisoned to death, its fine; and I can assume that it probably had: 1000 life while no resist, 750 life at 33% or 500 life at 50% resist, or anything with the same ratio that equals my damage... without one of the values, the others are hardly to be calculated. invited by timer @ 10.12.2011 -- deutsche Community: www.exiled.eu & ts.exiled.eu Last edited by Mr_Cee#0334 on Apr 26, 2013, 8:16:41 AM

" You can boost the degeneration of Poisen Arrow (of the cloud) and Viper strike with Vunerability (increased DoT IIRC). Though Chaos damage on hit effects can't be buffed that is true... Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D

I don't really want to continue this discussion, I just wanted to get an estimate of Chaos Resistance.
But here it is: - I can know the estimate of monsters' lightning resistance using Elemental Curses, and observing their descriptions (resists/is vulnerable to) - The killing speed is dependent on three things, damage, life, and resistance to damage. I don't need to see exact life values, because I see the monster life level on screen. I do however, need two other variables. I'm theorycraftin a Darkscorn build, so no Viper Strike/Poison Arrow. Although the question still applies to these skills. IGN: Neonesis / Violetlight / Sirencurse /... I have too many alts...

There's a way you can do it yourself, once you have darkscorn. Downside is you need to have the item that you're deciding whether or not to buy.
It's not exactly easy, in fact it'd take a couple hours of messing around just to get a solid guess for any one mob type's chaos resist value. It involves using lifeleech to determine your actual damage dealt. Not an exact science either, and it's a multi step process. Anyway, if you're REALLY dedicated, you can do it. --
I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. |

" Hmm, I didn't think about Life Leech! Thanks Zakaluka, I'm going to try that, as I have Darkscorn for quite some time now already. If you have any tips as to actual testing, please send me a PM or write here. IGN: Neonesis / Violetlight / Sirencurse /... I have too many alts...
