Damage Meter?
|
OPTIONAL health bars and damage tics would be both easy to implement, and appreciated. A damage meter (in the WoW sense) would of course be an awful idea.
A combat log would also be nice, for those of us who like trying to suss out what is going on under the hood. |

I dont want the numbers above enemies.
What i do want is an accurate description of what my DPS is. Currently the DPS value does not take into account things such as multiple projectiles, stacking AoE, fork, chain etc. Therefore the game should change or add the following DPS indicators: DPS -> Single target DPS: the average damage that 1 target will take on average. DPS range (least to most ideal situation) For example. Multiple projectiles on Freezing pulse; single target DPS: 1000 DPS range: 300 to 6000 (least ideal: long range, only 1 projectile hits, most ideal: target in melee range getting hit by all 3). Since shock and crit are "more" multipliers, you can calculate your own best situation crit. Sure the range on some skills my get ridiculous (e.g. chain EK on 9 targets if all 9 bounce to target). But it definatly gives a good worst/best case indication. |

" I would rather if people like you are my worst enemies, don't force your opinion on others. saying crap like you vote no because devs will be taken away from valuable content....? it's not something they do every week it's a one time thing. and to some people it's as important as content if not more important you want to say your opinion it's fine. just don't give us the crap about how shit is something that we find beautiful. to me all games are numbers. a number is the most beautiful thing in a game even above any visual improvement ill prio having the numbers first. ppl have different opinions. accept that before you speak in an annoying negative way. |

" I don't know if both of us are talking about the same thing. but reading your message made me think of it in a simple way. if we could have a way to know how much damage did the hit actually do example for data I would like to see in any way/form. normal hit damage minimum damage dealt......... average damage dealt .........and maximum damage delt....... critical hit damage minimum damage>>>>>>>maximum damage dealt. number of hits number critical hits damage taken by type an ability. everyone should remember, path of exile is a complex game. and as complex as it goes we sometimes die unsure of why or how. yes we know to some "extent" that we died because of ...whatever but not detailed enough for the game complexity. that's why the game relies more on things like stocking life / energy shield. to be able to take on any type of damage instead of fixing the one real issue if possible. that and the complexity of damage types, resistances, damage reduction, critical damage reduction ...... etc etc affects our damage insanely. I think a complex game needs such features. and such a feature will not force YOU to use it. it's for nerds like me >> |

I want to see how effective or uneffective my gear are. Show me this numbers. You have optional numeric values of HP/ES/Mana, optional bars above you, enemies and allies. But you can't see your damage output or how exactly hard was enemy strike?
Peoples dont want it? How about peoples that want it? Just make it as on/off option. E = mc^(OMG)/wtf Last edited by DoEFotGS#0015 on Nov 20, 2017, 6:32:56 PM

I want dmg meter and logs. But when PoE logs site will show how huge are differences between build it will be so huge drama and shitstorm.
But anyway it will be step in good direction. | |

I'm not sure if that's how it works in WoW as well, since I've only played SW:ToR on a serious level in terms of MMORPGs.
However, what I'd like to see is not each individual number of damage on each enemy, but overall statistics of how I and my build are performing. With a combat log, I could also try to match it to screencaps and see in what situations I was performing particularly (in-)efficiently. This would serve not just to update my build but also my playstyle. It shouldn't cover a lot of the screen though if there's an ingame overlay at all. I like to see where I shoot and where I'm going. One of the biggest issues however is that no matter how many and complex calculations you run, it's way harder to create an actual combat simulation (and that's just on the arithmetic side of things; manual dodging and aiming can't be measured outside the game). |

Why do people keep asking for enemy health bars? They are already in the game. Just toggle them on in the UI.
As for the damage numbers themselves, I too would like to see an option to be able to see them. The more info the better. I might not roll with them on all the time, but it would be nice to have access to that type of data. Last edited by PhoenixFlame#2460 on Dec 2, 2017, 5:23:03 PM

Well I doubt the numbers would actually be visible, because there are only a few situations were they are useful and in those situations numbers would likely be a clusterfuck.
I mean your tooltip shows how much damage you deal and in most situations that is actual damage, because enemies have no armor. And the only curse that is kinda hard to calculate is Assassins Mark, since the others are straight modifiers (as are most other things not shown). One thing I would find useful is a death log, because sometimes it is hard to figure out what actually killed you. So having that would be a good idea. The rest hardly. Sometimes I dont even understand why games show me those numbers, because I cant even read them, there is no point of having them because all it does it making a million numbers pop up on the screen. D3 is propably the worst example of this, because I have no clue what was actually dealing the damage the screen shows me, there are just a bunch of numbers. Not to mention that there are much better tools that already calculate your damage, how high it is in certain situations. A combat log would make it hard for a player to trigger specific situations and would likely just create a lot of confusion, because maybe an effect was not active anymore and the combat log still can't tell you what effects you had while the hit was dealt. |

this is probably the easiest way they could add "damage tooltips".
