Damage Meter?

You guys are trying to take all the thinking that should be done on your part, and offloading it to the game.
You should be able to compare your own items stats and calculate them in your own head.. Don't ask the game to tell you what item is better.. figure it out for yourself... As for damage numbers, those are meant for games like WoW where your fighting 2-3 mobs at a time. in THIS game you should be able to calculate how much damage your doing by how much the healthbars of ur foes are dropping... Damage numbers are ugly just as the poster above shows. Anybody who wants floating combat text in this game is nukin futs. We want a d2 successor, were not trying to bring over the fail from d3 to this game. Last edited by lucid88#5384 on Jun 16, 2012, 5:11:29 PM

Definitely want to see this added as well.
Having zero feedback from the game is annoying. I want to see how often I dodge, block, crit, parry etc... to see how much of a difference certain passives make. And obviously how much damage each mob is doing on average. It should be easy enough to implement, they should already have everything in place (programming wise) to visually display these kinds of things so I don't see any reason not to include it as an option. That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die. Last edited by Seraphyx#3494 on Jun 16, 2012, 7:36:35 PM

Regardless of whether they add it or not, it is more of a polish/extra thing that is not desired by everyone. So I wouldn't expect anything like this until the polish stages of development if it came at all.
They said I was mad! They said it couldn't be done! But now who's mad?!?! Last edited by Guadagno#2062 on Jun 16, 2012, 10:41:42 PM

" well i think there should be an option for that. |

personally I'd like the monster health bars displayed over their heads (see d3) without numbers and crap though. I think Numbers can be appreciated more on the larger health bar at the top of your screen.
By the way yea, i feel they should show numbers up there. |

There should be dmg indicators in this game but it should be optional cuz some people don't like numbers flying around when others do .

" Actually, it's the other way around. I'd like to audit my calcs. It's also an issue of transparency on the game's part. I'd like to see where reality fits into all the theory crafting. |

I don't need floating numbers, but a combat log! No matter how ugly.
There are just so many important details you can't really nail 100% with math/observations. Armor mitigation, length and amount of shock stacks, damage done by mobs, aka how the hell did that thing insta kill me? Etc etc. IGN: Iski

I'm not too fond of numbers covering my screen every time I use a multiple target skill. There are far more elegant solutions.
I agree with Balguez. A combat log would solve a lot more problems than just knowing how much damage you're dealing. It'd help with evasion predictability (considering its mechanics), enemy statistics determinations, knowing exactly how you died, et cetera. However, it'd need to be done correctly, and in the current state of the user interface I must say there's no good place for it, floating damage numbers, or whatever solution. I have a big problem with the way the layout and graphical user interface was designed but I suppose that's for another discussion. It's times like these where I wish add-ons were feasible... I'd be churning them out daily. same name in-game

A damage meter...absolutely not, floating combat text maybe a toggle option but i'm not bothered with that personaly...i would love to see health bars above every mob though.
