With the change to parry, it would actually give staves block + parry instead of block + spell damage. I should update the thread to reflect that

" Daggers will be gettning none of this DR. This is for two handed weapons only. As for casters using staves, staves are harder to roll and lose you the shield slot which is even better than having a staff with DR on it. |

" The parry/deflection could be implicit on all weapons, just make it low enough and require some investment. Roughly: Daggers = 2-3% DR Other 1h weapons = 3-4% DR staff = 4-7% DR 2h sword/mace/axe = 7-10% DR Then with weapon specialization passives increase that base. |

Sorry about the daggers, I don't know why I forgot that we're talking about two handed weapons.
As to staves, I still don't feel like it's good idea. Additional block is useful to virtually any character, additional damage by TYPE? Not so much, only casters. In my opinion, it's unecessary specialisation. If we got the already proposed idea of two types of staves/daggers, one for casting and other for melee, then it's all fine and dandy. Casters got implicit spell damage, melee fighers got increased block chance. IGN: Neonesis / Violetlight / Sirencurse /... I have too many alts... I like to hang out in Global sometimes. I support this proposal with the modification (deflection/parry) in the OP. I might also suggest that rapier type weapons gain implicit deflection/parry as well.

" There was a huge thread about making duelists better a while ago and this was pretty much what we all came up with to make them better. But it could apply to all 2H weapons, but we suggested it be a keystone or something like that. Can;t remember it was back in CB R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

Some added Survivability or an improved damage boost to 2-Handers beside Staff compared to going 1h Shield or Dual Wield would be welcome.
