My game Freezes (just) before spawning in game at city

Hi, thanks for all the specs.
I'm assuming the SSF character creation then swapping back didn't help, so from the specs you listed there's only one thing that stands out as a possible issue.

It's very possible the 556.12 driver for your 3080 might be a problem according to a lot of posts from non laptop users. Apparently there's quite a lot of laptop users having issues with that version also. Driver versions prior to this one (last 3 I think) have been problematic for a lot of users on the official Nvidia feedback forums. Some have said this 556.12 (yours) works fine.

Here is a mega thread for Nvidia 556.12 with the same links I have listed below.

It might be worth a shot at rolling back a few driver versions.
(you can always reinstall the current version after this)

I found a few forum posts recommending the April 552.22 version which you can get here:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/results/224155/ << download this

All current / past version downloads can be found here:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ << if you want to roll back further

I'd recommend doing this install with an app called DDU, however it is not always needed and a direct downgrade of the driver sometimes works fine.

If you want to go the DDU route...

Instructions + download can be found here for DDU:

I can get my deadeye to load and play for a random amount of time, on many of my efforts, if I use the following sequence: Logon, select SSF character, play very briefly, exit to character select, select my deadeye, spawn into kauri town, spawn into my lair. The process seems to work best when I have NO Filter selected. I can play the deadeye for a small amount of time, but at some random time on a random map, the gameplay will freeze. Often, I cannot immediately logon again after this in-game freeze with either character.

I'll add a comment, if I try to regress on the driver and have any more luck.

Great news so far.

I used the 552.22 version link you gave above and rolled back to that version using the .EXE file directly. I rebooted my machine and then logged in and was able to select my deadeye, spawn into town, then spawn into my lair. I loaded a filter and played on a T16 map that was reasonably buffed. I was able to play for about 25 minutes and then logged off. I re-logged on and could get all the way back to my lair with the deadeye. I've logged off to eat, but I'll try more extensive play later and report back.

This problem looks fixed for me. I used the 552.22 version link you gave above for over an hour of gameplay. I've logged in and out exclusively with my Deadeye a few times. I've not seen the problem re-occur.

Thanks

Just posting here as a thank you to you guys for figuring this out - I was pulling my hair out with this one and this fixed it.
I'm also going through drop outs in campaign/towns.

I'm downgrading my version as well, will report when I'm back in.
