Excited for PoE 2?

POE 2 will be designed as a console game. And some of the earlier footage, on closer inspection, already gave that suspicion.

Final sentence in the Official Console Deep Dive Gameplay Exclusive Trailer of Gamespot:
"Yeah I am really looking forward to converting everyone to use a controller when they are playing POE 2."

It is not the first game series to abandon its pc roots to go for console priority design.

So the huge excitement I had with POE 2 campaign when it was announced in 2019-2020, not much is left over.

Pretty much this.

I was really excited after the showcase at the original ExileCon. Everything they've showed since then has made me less hyped - especially all the additions to PoE 1 that is never going to happen, because all men are woring on refilling flasks at town, balancing the game around WASD and introducing forced skill combos.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
I mean, if PoE2 will be a next.gen gem im okay to buy PS5 and play it from there, mixing with gaming on PC

Why or why not?

It kinda feels like some of the interest/excitement has changed for better or worse. Not necessarily because of the delay (although possibly). Seems like the general consensus is that it's becoming ruthless 2.0 which may or may not be for everyone.

So just wondering your guys thoughts

Because the game is completely different than PoE. This is not what the audience who love the complexity of PoE want.

Personally, I find a lot of the design decision in PoE to be nonsensical. Like the amount of garbage loot the entire game and the attendant wasted economy...

But that's just me.

I'm not interested in joining the console hoi polloi. But then, I lost pretty much all interest in PoE Too when GGG "changed their plans" about the game without bothering to inform us until a couple of years had passed. I'll stick around for PoE for as long as I can squeeze some enjoyment out of it. =9[.]9=

true
It’s a shame that the days are gone when the core strength of the PC as a games platform was adaptability and customisation; where the existence of games that use a controller (or a joystick or a steering wheel or whatever) was seen as exemplifying the platform. Then the 'gamer' identity came along and now they're just tribal symbols, my team is the mouse and your team is the controller rah rah rah.

For normal, mature people controllers still are just a different way of playing on the same system. Have you tried playing Dark Souls or Elden Ring with KBM? The horror.

The thing is: those games are designed to be played with a controller in mind. KBM was merely an afterthought.

I guess the fear is that PoE2 will be also such that controller is the better option for play, or that the controls are 'dumbed down' to make playing with a controller feel as good.

Just trying to steelman their argument. I'm not sure that this is a question of gaming tribalism
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

I played Elden Ring with KBM when it came out and the experience was horrible. I had the feeling that the game was downright cheating with controls.

Basically, the focus/lock target functionality is really bad. What you expect from lock target is for your character to face the enemy while you're free to look around with the mouse to navigate around obstacles and hazards. What Elden Ring does is, you not only lock target but also locks the camera. There is no way to tell there is a cliff behind you or you're getting stuck in a chair if you try to dodge backwards/sideways. This is further exacerbated by camera going into a close-up, when you're too close to any solid object/wall/furniture, where you can neither see your character nor the enemy. I died numerous times stuck in terrain/obstacles that I could never see.

Fired up Elden Ring again a couple months ago. But this time I installed two mods that completely changed the whole game and made it a much more enjoyable experience.

1. FOV increase.
2. Free camera. Your character is locked to face the target but you can freely move the camera with mouse and easily navigate around tight ledges and obstacles.
