Cannot login it says I need update but I have updated repeatedly

I am playing the game via the steam client. The game automatically updates to the latest one before I play it. It just updated after the patch.
But when I try to login, it says "Login Error, There has been a patch that you need to update to. Please restart path of Exile. I have restarted the game multiple times and steam seems to update it every time I start steam for some reason. This is the first time it has happened with POE. so is there a dev that would be so kind as to let us know what is happening? I have the same exact issue... launching through steam client and cannot login because I need to update yada yada blah blah tried it a hundred times restarted computer etc
