Melee builds should be the strongest in any arpg created imho
Fundamentally Melee needs at least 1 of 3 perks for simply being melee.
Higher DPS output. Higher Survival. Higher CC potential. This is just basic game design and it's amplified in a game like PoE because melee can't really use typical tricks like Line of Sight they normally would against Ranged enemies. That's really all there is to it. Not sure why GGG has such an issue managing this. " This is against an unarmored target though. Outside the legendary English Long bows. Arrows did not do a lot to armored combatants. Swords didn't either to be fair. More specialized weapons were designed to deal with armor and majority were melee weapons. There's a reason the breastplate stayed in use even during the age of guns. You are correct though that most melee didn't kill instantly. It was more about trauma and incapacitating. they should simply limited the leech option for ranged attacks
i.e. only from gem and/or a few uniqs there simply is a good reason why spells cant leech easily |
