Proposed change for Forbidden Flesh/Flame

Right now Forbidden Flame and Forbidden Flesh is a very interesting jewel combo that allows for alot of builds that wouldnt function without them, the only issue i have is how impossible it is to obtain a pair in SSF/small private leagues.

I propose a change, instead of them dropping with a designated Ascendancy point, they just drop as "Marauder/Templar/Witch/Shadow/Ranger/Duelist/Scion"

And then when you place a Marauder Forbidden Flame next to a Marauder forbidden flesh, they then do like the thing to make adorned jewel, and they both got the same ascendancy note from Marauder.

Right now there are 156 different Forbidden Flesh and flame combos, in SSF you maybe get 20 combined forbidden flame/flash jewels in total, the odds of getting 2 of the same jewel, is actually astronomical. Since these jewels have been added, i havent managed to get a pair except once, and by that time i was 2 months into the league and pretty done.

Can we please change these jewels so they are a bit more accessible in non trade?

i love playing ssf/private leagues, but these jewels are so frustrating, i really just wanna try and play with them!

Not going to balance things just because you chose to play SSF.

cue that guy who's going to tell you the game should feel like trash if you don't play Shopping simulator league AKA "SSF is supposed to be hard mode if you chose it blah blah blah the game is meant for shopping enthusiasts who want to earn a pixel wage".

My question is why do we have a single super easy Mode and then 6 Hard modes with a galaxy wide gulf between them?
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
SSF in POE sucks. You just take a large penalty with NOTHING to compensate for it. You don't have any better drop rates, you don't have easier map mods, you don't have faster XP gains, less death penalty. Nothing.

You chose to play a game mode like this, it's on you.

People play these fringe game modes like Standard, Ruthless, HC, SSF, HC SSF, HC SSF Ruthless... and they come here with massive pain in their butt that the game is not fun to play.

No shit Sherlock, it's not because you chose a cringe mode to begin with.

Don't try to be this hipster hating current thing and just play SC trade. It's where overwhelming majority of players are located. It's not a shame to play here. And here it's actually fun to play.

The response will be cued EVERY time something like this comes up because that is exactly what people sign up for when they play SSF in this game. It's never existed any other way.

Devs have spoken on the subject numerous times. The game is balanced around trade, all other offshoots are challengemodes off of trade. Love it or hate it, that just IS what it is.

It's not that people are saying "the game should feel like trash" for those choosing the challenge modes; rather, its the fact that you chose a challenge mode KNOWING and fully willing to interact with a game that DOES "feel like trash" by design.

That's like playing chess and constantly complaining that rooks can only move in straight lines. Why can't my rook move diagonally?!

Because almost everybody plays the first one? (not me btw)

Acting like it isn't incredibly obvious why SC trade gets the focus is being pretty disingenuous :p

Additionally, all the other modes were created specifically to BE harder modes...

This is actually pretty much standard practice in the arpg world: the base game gets easier, so harder and harder modes continue to be released. I'm not sure I can name a single game that released an EASIER mode down the development line.
way to miss the point guys

quick illustration:

Easy, Super sweaty, ultra sweaty, Mega sweaty, Omega sweaty, LMAO sweaty, This is just dumb sweaty.

Or

Easy, Medium, Hard, Hurt me plenty.

Which game has the more sensible distribution of modes?

This topic comes up almost monthly and every time the status quo defenders are so quick to cue up in defensive formation that there's never a reasonable discussion to be had.

^It is you who missed the point pretty drastically.

Within each mode, there's gradations of difficulty exactly as you describe. You just completely choose to ignore them when making your assessment.

If SSF is indeed "super sweaty" mode, then I would argue Trade is Easy through "sweaty" mode. If you can tackle sweaty mode trade, SSF is going to be far less of a difficulty leap. But if you go from knowing nothing in trade mode straight into SSF mode.....then of course its going to feel like you're going from 1 to 1000.

"Difficulty" in PoE is also quite subjective. Difficulty for one player could mean the classic "hardest content cleared". But for many others, difficulty could simply refer to game knowledge and build creation. Ex: If you follow a guide for a SSF build, SSF mode itself is going to be just as easy as Trade mode. But if you try to create your own SSF build, while mostly reliant on trade previously, you are gonna have a HARD time.

Alternative suggestion: delete these items from the game and tell people to pick that ascendancy if they want its bonuses.
