In the past I would say that makes no sence because Ritual is nothing like Affliction. But Ultimatum was nothing like Metamoprh and it replaced it. So yeah, that could happen.

If it goes core that means another jewel slot is reserved. The jewel adds so much there will always be a BiS. I think it will stay, but they will make it hard to come b, that wil be the only way to make it feel less mandatory by making it a chase item.
