I'm wondering the same thing.
bump!

I'm in the process of leveling up a cold snap witch. Something that hasn't been mentioned is the new Diamond Flask. Pairing up a diamond flask or 2 with a voll's protector seems like it would be quite legit.

questions: is the lack of ES on voll's protector going to be prohibitive for a CI build, because that's what I've been building towards?

This is the build that I'm thinking of:

Anyone have any updates on this build?

I'm currently level 73 and using this build but it completely falls apart vs single target rares that you can't tank if they have any type of cold resistance, leech life(they heal from skeletons), or regen life. Cold resist champions are tough as well and can leave you low on Flasks and I'm currently using 2x Mana Flask and 1x Hybrid Flask.

Nothing else is a problem and entire screens get obliterated, but these types of rares(Leech, Regen, Resist Cold) can almost completely put a stop to any progression in a map/farming area. Leech or Regen on a Blackguard soldier, Zombie, Skeleton mage, anything that resists cold = GG.

Has anyone found a solution to this? While zombies and skeleton mages are manageable by taking 5+ minutes to killm anything fast enough to catch you is a painful experience.

Not sure if you still have this problem but have you tried using Discharge? There's a lot of synergy with collecting power charges & discharge. And the damage released is lightning, not cold, so unless the boss has ele resist, you can usually 1-shot them.

Thought about it some more, and I supposed CI won't work that well with a Voll's. The alternative would be respec'ging to armor. Should have about enough respec points to do it with a few OOR's to supplement.

I'll keep trucking with my current build. May try to make it work with power charge on crit gems or just take the hit to ES from voll's. If that doesn't work out, I can try the armor route.
Hey,

I'm trying to build a cold snap witch as well. My passive tree looks a lot like the one posted in the first post, but i left out a lot of the crit chance nodes in order to get the crit multiplier nodes and the dual curse node and elemental equilibrium.

I think crit multiplier is good for cold snap because it will increase the freeze duration. Also it would increase burning damage if one decides to use "cold to fire" on cold snap. (I still have to find out how cold to fire works with EE.)

I'm also planing on using a spell totem with Fireball+GMP+Knockback to have some more crowd control and to trigger EE. Also i would use Power Siphon on a high attack speed wand with a high added lightning roll.
Which would work fine with EE and deliver power charges as well as shock stacks. Also static blows and Arcing blows is very close to the original tree.

The draw backs obviously would be that you shouldn't spam cold snap because of EE, but on the other hand you won't need voll's and managing power charges will be less rng dependent.

The curses and EE will help you against elemental resist rares a lot. Temp chains + forstbite would prob work best.

I'm not in merciless or maps yet, i will update once i make it there.
