Time to Rework the Atlas
i dont know how GGG saves the atlas data and i dont know GGG's manifesto on the atlas.
but i think its about high time that GGG did something about "future proofing" the atlas. one of my biggest gripes of STD is re unlocking the atlas. [Removed by Support] this thread is for GGG to address. i m sick and tired of having to constantly reunlock my atlas EVERY NEW LEAGUE. i ran the highest tier map and unlocked MOST of the maps but was lacking 30 maps to be unlocked. RE-Unlocked to be accurate. for sure POE's atlas has been evolving from the introduction of the shaper, the war of the atlas, sirus, the maven and our current form. i can understand that in the atlas has evolved over the years and change is constant and to be expected. but that said SURELY something can be done to retain map data. how about GGG start having a new map clearing database. for example the first 4 maps. do not tie the data towards the map name, instead, make it tied to a map identifier. how i believe it's currently done: Map Name: Beach Atlas Version: War for atlas Unlocked: Y/N Atlas Bonus: Y/N Connected Maps: Volcano, Graveyard Minimum Voidstones to unlock: 0 how i would propose it to be done: Map ID: 001 Map Base: Beach Atlas Version: War for atlas Unlocked: Y/N Atlas Bonus: Y/N Connected Maps: 006, 007 Minimum Voidstones to unlock: 0 whenever GGG decides to switch out a map or reshuffle maps, they simply change the value of the map base. Benefits of having this new system: 1. STD players dont have to keep reunlocking the atlas EVERY SINGLE LEAGUE. to the ones who would say its simple. SHUT THE FUCK UP. its a hassle and if it doesnt effect you, why the fuck do you care. its not a problem to you then just move on. your feedback on the matter is ZERO. "oh it doesnt effect me, oh' its just a small matter to me". you might as well shut up then. it doesnt affect you but it affects ME. and it affects others. i really dont understand why people just accept something being shitty when it can be improved? 2. When converting maps, maps can be converted to a map equal to the NEW atlas version. currently when converting maps, it tends to conform with the maps hidden by voidstones/unlocks making us have a ton of a select few maps rather than a healthy 1-1 conversion to equivalent maps regardless of hidden/unlock status. if the argument of why this hasnt been implemented is because the atlas has been evolving/changing throughout the years. i can accept that. but that said, we have come to a point where there are some constants to the atlas. there are 115 maps for "full clear". index these maps. with most of the devs busy with POE2, i strongly believe that POE 1's atlas wont be changing too significantly, especially since we have a hideout that specifically illustrates the atlas. Don't you re-unlock the full Atlas in standard by running literally one tier 16 map rare-corrupted?

" Thanks for testing, it looks like it unlocked all tier fifteen maps and below. So I guess op is complaining about having to do the last five percent of the atlas? I'm really not sure that's a problem because that's just playing the game. |

" But imagine playing the video game. Oh no, the horror The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

I figured it out! OP probably ran a T16 map rare but not corrupted, so it unlocked all maps T10 and below.
I seriously hope this isn't a mistake they've made league after league... |

I'm pretty sure you also need to run a rare, corrupted NATURAL t16 map (in the current pool).
If you run a watchstone-upgraded, lower tier map, I don't think it works correctly. Haven't done it in a while so not sure if this is correct or not. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Jan 17, 2024, 11:08:48 AM

question. HOW DOES A STANDARD PLAYER KNOW TO RUN THE HIGHEST TIER MAP WHILE SOCKETING ALL VOIDSTONES BEFOREHAND? is this knowledge imparted to the player in any way within the game? also IIRC they need to run the highest tier from previous or current map tier? i dont even know anymore. right i m the one being silly for not knowing this "common knowledge" playing the game is hard because i dont want to do this CHORE every single new league. as a standard player, this is literally a chore or can even be said as a punishment. an unnecessary one too. oh you want to continue playing standard? go re unlock your atlas, WE WONT TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. damn man. you guys really hate feedback that can improve the game even by the slightest bit. regardless of how "bad i am" answer me this. if GGG made it so that STD players no longer needed to reunlock the atlas, would that be a BAD thing for YOU? how does that impact you? many might not remember this but once upon a time Vaal areas required players to open TP at the end. after players feedbacked asking for a free TP, GGG actually did that for us. in fact GGG took the lesson learned and implemented it into sanctum as well as affliction. free TP for everyone. ease. QoL. all these from some players that complained about vaal areas. i cant recall but its likely i m one of them. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Drew_GGG#0000 on Jan 17, 2024, 12:19:40 PM

^nonononono, your feedback is 100% correct!!!! This is a recurring problem and continues to be a recurring problem. People complain about this same thing EVERY new league.
It is "easy" to re-complete the atlas (provided you know about it), but the problem shouldn't exist in the first place. I disagree with the responses that deny this is a legitimate game problem, regardless of how easy the solution may currently be. One way GGG could help is: when you load up a standard character, I'm pretty sure they give you one free full Passive wipe (or maybe this is a time thing). You get an on-screen warning 1st thing saying "You have one full passive reset available, would you like to use it?). Why can't they ALSO have a warning saying "This character previously unlocked the full atlas, would you like to unlock it now?" Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Jan 17, 2024, 2:18:50 PM
