Last Epochs factions will probably put PoEs "friction trading" to shame
Sad to say this, but...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piT6Jgi1ZGw Looks like Last Epoch will have a far, far superior system, especially when taking SSF into account. Last bumped on Jan 14, 2024, 11:15:29 AM

" They already had something similar but removed it last year i think since there where less MP features & multiplayer servers shit themself hard and still do but to a lesser extent. This new (no really new) trade/SSF system is the same as the old but now with more grind in between. In the end you're still playing trade since you can change faction without any disadvantage like losing rep. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
"A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks |

" No, as I understand is: 1. Trade items can only be used while you're affiliated with trade 2. SSF items can only be used while you're affiliated with SSF The problems this system solves is, from my point of view: 1. Trade is easy via AH like system, while still requiring people to level up their characters, thereby precluding bot operations 2. SSF becomes fully viable as a playstyle for non-gigachads, because there is a way now to get endgame viable gear without grinding for Grahams number of maps 3. Everyone is happy On a sidenote: I think SSF in PoE falls apart the very moment a divine orb drops. They are MUCH to rare to actually use for crafting while being much too valuable to let them rot in the inventory. Had it happen to me as well. Tried SSF, but when that first divine dropped (in heist, as usual) I put the character into trade league. Last edited by navigator4223#0403 on Jan 12, 2024, 8:47:38 AM

Watch it again, because its not what you think it is.
" Wrong. You can use whatever item as long as you have the min lvl of the relevant affiliation and you can switch at any time. Also this means you cant just buy all items you want, because some of them might well have higher lvl requirements and cant be equipped even tho you are affiliated with trade or you drop an item you cant equip because you dont have the min lvl needed for the SSF affiliation. " Also wrong. All the SSF affilition does is granting a 50% MORE multi for dropchances. Thats it. If the base chance of dropping a very rare item is 0.02% then its now 0.03%. You will still have to grind a lot to drop the item and you still have to grind the required minlvl of the SSF affiliation to be able to use it. No idea which one is going to be more grindy but that doesnt matter. What matters: You will still have to grind a lot. |

Hm, ok, I got "you can only use affiliated items" from the video, but I will surely watch it again now.
I mean, I think this is even better when it's not like this, because this means that eventually one can get "the best of both worlds", so we have to see. Also there will probably be no "XP penalty for dying" for the affiliation, so the grind doesn't matter much anyway, it will just happen. I think you remember how "fond" I am of XP penalties. :-) |

Sounds like a good system, I like the idea of being able to take a character back into SSF after playing with friends, at the perfectly reasonable price of not having access to any gear obtained in party-mode.
But I'm really not seeing what this has to do with PoEs trade system. |

" They have an auction house. |

" Okay? But that has what to do with SSF, since you can't buy items and take them into SSF? |

" When you decide not to use trade then you get, apparently, much, much better drops. This would equal to PoE handing out Divine Orbs in SSF like candy to make them actually useful. |
