Magic find gear is bad game design
I think the larger issue for me lies in how bad loot feels without mf gear.
Basically if your build doesn't support the setup, then you play mechanics that aren't effected by iir/iiq (heist, Ultimatum this iteration of it, essence, bossing, etc. Things that have a set drop.) But the trade economy balances itself with people who make 1000x more profit because they can benefit from having iir/iiq and play in parties for a specific setup. If ggg really wants to "solve" this issue and help solo and non meta players then they really need to buff loot without any mf stats. Like the meme if 1 div an hour should really be 1 div on the ground an hour, not because you have a bot trading 2 chaos trades 24/7. |

i've posted about it before and i've posted about it on POE2 subreddit. its currently at 70% +++ upvote rating. a lot of people dont like magic find on gear.
simple as that. heck even talkative tri did mention he wasnt keen for mf on gear but did not elaborate. it is a divisive opinion after all. [Removed by Support]

It is simple, MF is the biggest problem of this game. People denying that are just not objective. They are abusing MF and don't want to give up their unfair advantage.

Everything is the 'biggest problem' nowadays. It seems nuance died sometime along the road to whatever this is.
Hard to have an actual conversation when people throw around hyperboles like that all the time. And no, you can disagree with that view without 'abusing' MF. In fact: you'll find not a single shred of MF on my characters. And just like that your hyperbolic argument falls apart.. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Calm down!
It's not really been a problem for 99% of the game - it was always a niche thing mostly for party play and div card farming. MF has huge diminishing returns, people are only running it so much this league because of affliction juicing of low tier maps. I am just doing it coz the loot explosions are fun. Running t16s with non MF gear will be far more profitable - it's just the league mechanic that's causing the insane loot, player iiq/iir is a relatively small contribution. My loot is pretty mediocre on all the maps where I don't get at least 5-6k wisps. Last edited by stalkingjackal#2441 on Jan 4, 2024, 4:00:38 PM

MF has been in the game as long as I can remember. Weird how NOW all these magic find and group play posts are surfacing. Not an issue as far as I can tell. You dont need it and are not missing out on anything this game has to offer. Mash the clean

Last league where we had ridiculous amount of loot was Sentinel. And what followed directly after was one of the worst if not the worst leagues of all time - Kalandra. Where they cut down on the amount of loot but didn't compensate in current league mechanic at all. And made the signature mechanic (reflecting your rings / amulets to randomly give them numerically augmented stats but they could turn negative) stupidly rare, to the point where I found just 4 such tiles in 252 hours of gameplay.
I league started in heist, then farmed T7 maps and now farm T16 maps. With a build that is propably the worst character I have ever played - a fulcrum chieftain. I mean, it is a tanky character that TECHNICALLY has insane DPS, but the fun factor of playing it is like 1/10. But the amount of currency I am pulling out of those juiced maps is so much larger than any other content in this game I feel kinda forced to do it. I'm fine with massive explosions of scarabs and sextants. This is just map juice and even winged scarabs should be accessible. I do have a problem with uniques being worthless (even rare and good ones) and currency being this abundant. |
