CANNOT Play the Game - Failed To Decompress (Corrupted Data)

Bring me back to the top
I had the same issue.
I think it may be PC hardware issue: unstable system under load.

By disabling multi-threading the load of systems decreases and stability improves

I suggest try to run PC hardware check tests:
Prime95, OCCT, etc.
Or just (if you have mechanical HDD) try to make an archive with size > 100Gb using multithreading and testing this archive, by e.g. 7-zip software

or use any other method to check system stability

Then try to reduce CPU frequency in BIOS (e.g. decrease System clock and/or CPU ratio (multiplier).

Also check SMART of system disk for Reallocation Sector Count (it should be 0) by using something like CrystalDiskInfo or VictoriaHDD

my experience - I have found system instaiblity caused by failed chassis fan. After I have opened the case of PC i have no issue anymore (but need to test more)

Hi!

I totally hear you, and thank you for these suggestions - however, I really do not want to have to mess with my CPU settings and overclock my PC. It should not have to come to that.

This is an issue with the Path of Exile game, and this is extremely sad to see such poor customer service regarding this issue. I have had such amazing interactions with GGG support in the past but this is just insane. Support won't even help, when I emailed them, they say go to the technical support forums, but no one is helping at all, and I see multiple people having this issue, so what do we do?
I just crashed 10 times within a span of 5 minutes, trying to get back in my Voidborn Reliquary Key to open the chest. All getting the error, some new ones, I actually got these two new errors that I have not seen before:
https://prnt.sc/EsNbSYG3-si4
I usually get this one, but the top is brand new, this is the first time I have seen the "Error loading type Metadata/effects etc."

Here is the second one:

https://prnt.sc/hwWSrg7wzxwM
Unfortunately, the running test of prime95 (to my surprise, as i thought i've fixed my rig) shows an error!

https://prnt.sc/jW55Fgvxg8nh

I think the issues in POE and PC stability are connected. Not all programs causes PC to fail, only the heaviest. If PoE is the heaviest and most CPU utilizing app, than it is reasonable that it will corrupt textures

So i will tweak around BIOS settings to make sure test can run 24 hours without errors

Have those crashes for some time allready and tried almost anything these threads recommend.

Today i went to the nvidia support forums and found lots of complaints about the last few driver versions.

There was a Version mentioned which worked without most of the new crashes taking place. The Driver's versionnumber is 537.58

Since downgrading to this older driver POE hasn't crashed in 2 hours which is unseen for me in the last weeks.

Concerning EU-lags i recommend using moscow server for smooth 50 ms gameplay.
What about monster golf? Hit it HARD - go find it - Hit it hard again :D
I think I have found a fix for the game. Its core clock speed for CPU, I lower down to 5.0 and no more problems. hope it will help others.

Unfortunately, GGG have not provided technical support for quite some time. If you email them, they will tell you to post here in this forum. It's only users helping other users when and where they can.

I do not and will not use TFT.
