All Damage Can Poison Tincture
The FAQ says that tinctures only apply to attacks with weapons.
Does this mean that "All Damage Can Poison" won't work with spells? If that is the case- Why doesn't the description at the bottom at least clarify that modifiers will only work with attacks then? Or why isn't it "All Damage with Attacks Can Poison" ? Last bumped on Dec 21, 2023, 3:01:48 PM

" think of it thematically tinctures work by applying them on weapons. for example coating a weapon with poison. you can then imagine the mods apply to the weapon coating. thematically you dont slap an enemy with your weapon when you cast a spell. you can thematically imagine applying the tincture on arrows for bows. it doesnt make thematic sense that you apply a physical coating to a spell before launching it. that said i really think GGG should make it more clear that tinctures only apply to attacks with weapons [Removed by Support]

" GGG should make it clear for sure but I do not agree that it would not make thematic sense. In fantasy fiction it is completely common to turn your wand/staff in to poison kind by changing the materials used. For example using red gemstone=fire using unicorn wood=healing using blood=black magic so tincture giving it boosts to poison aka "chaos magic" by being soaked in it, makes complete sense. Also magic has obviously a lot of space to be illogical, because it is supernatural. I can even imagine any magic cast being coated in this tincture. It is not any more crazy than coating INFINITE AMMOUNT OF ARROWS in it. Or it working on ranged melee attacks in which the weapon does not even touch enemy. (melee being the gem tag, but often actually being projectile or magic attack visually) I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty,

" changing your magic spells via changing your wands/staff components is logical. thematically mages channel their energy into their wand/staff which then changes/imbues the spell with characteristics based on the items' construct. when i mention coating spells with tinctures (something physical), we dont really see that happen in common fantasy do we? for sure we can see spells being empowered, enhanced or enchanted/imbued with more energies but rarely do we see actual spells being deliberately coated. coating in most fantasy settings usually applies only to physical weapons. its quite common to see images of a sneaky boi apply poison coating to his weapon or even an archer dipping arrows into oil/poison. but i bet that most of us have not seen a mage dipping his spell into poison regularly. or even dipping his wand/staff into oil. even then in the very rare occassion that they do dip their wands/staffs, they will swing the staff as a melee weapon rather than cast spells with it. its simply "common fantasy", coatings tend to be applied to physical weapons but never spells. definitely you could prove me wrong with examples but its very likely the examples you give would be indeed very niche. but you're right about the arrow thing. for sure we have to not be 100% logical on that. lol. still its more common to coat an arrow head rather than coat a wand or even a spell. How do we know that the Poisonberry tincture works? There doesnt appear to be any graphical change or change on the character sheet when its toggled.
