"GGG Hates Melee" well now we have EMPIRICAL PROOF that GGG has an Anti-Melee bias
|
GGG has a heavy bias against melee, only a fool would deny that, but they (hopefully) didn't ignore melee all together. It is very likely that the chunk of the gems still being developed are majority melee. We can only hope they are not all as garbage as pretty much 90% of what we've seen from melee so far.

" since you dont know, POE2 was supposed to fix all the problems inherent in POE1. then 4 years after this announcement we were told that poe2 is a separate game. development on poe1 was cut to just 8 persons. most of the team is busy with poe2. poe1 will be missing a lot of features poe2 has " Aoe aoe aoe aoe aoe. melee is fun when it plays like a spell/projectile. try a strike skill. or try making your own build before saying people lack imagination. " Slams are melee skills and incredibly fun. Not sure what you are mad about The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" lol your attitude is exactly why its maddening. melee encompass many different melee skills. slams can be insanely fun but other people want to enjoy other melee skills. i m not saying slams are bad. the problem is melee in general is bad. slams and melee skills with projectile/aoe component are typically "fun". but what about those that dont? your statement is like saying oh melee aint bad, this one particular popular skilltype out of many (which are usually way worse) is real fun. tell you what. try rolling a new shadow, you'll get viper strike and poison support which synergizes well. you'll get cobra lash. try continue playing and get to tidal island and try fighting the boss of the map using viper strike exclusively. let me know how much fun you have. So "melee in general is bad" because there is that one completely suboptimal build you find unfun? Great logic there. If VS shadow sucks then do it on PF? It's going to be a cakewalk i promise.

" My point was that time and time again content creators show how to play melee in the current build landscape. If I was to play Viper Strike I wouldn't build an Assassin, I'd make a Pathfinder. Thanks to poison duration charms you can definitely make it viable and I have actually been looking into going for that next, so it's funny you bring it up. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" your point is based on the best that content creators come up with. so what about strikes. you've deftly evaded my suggestion to try killing the boss as well as you missed the point. i purposely brought up a brand new experience for when you're level 2-3 as a good example of how it would feel playing a certain melee skill and you're bringing up end game. lol, take up my challenge. its an easy one that can be done in less than 10 minutes. or heck, roll a ranger and try viper strike on that boss. its funny how far you missed the point. " lol you too have missed the point. its so easy to see that just continuing with cobra lash would provide a superior experience. and i like how you brought up "suboptimal build". GGG gave shadows VS as a starting skill, yet it's the suboptimal class to do so? thats pretty bad game design. why give players a bad first experience? are you so accustomed to following builds that you cant fathom the idea of someone playing the game fresh?. you too can go ahead and roll a ranger, get to tidal island, melee the boss there with VS. let me know how fun it was. Note to self: stop arguing with people who struggle with Act 1, melee or not

So i actually logged in to do your little challenge and honestly, what of it? Used a shadow, was level 3 when i got there, only white gear (helm + body arm + second weapon). Had to do some minor kiting to get rid of the mobs surrounding him then proceeded to facetank him until he died which took like 5 hits or so. The whole ordeal including the mobs took maybe 10-20 seconds if that. Where is the problem?
