In PoE2, can we make leveling CI builds not suck please
PoE1 is obviously too far gone, what with Tabula + Goldrim being BIS until you reach maps.
But maybe we can do something in PoE2 so that it's actually worth speccing into CI at some point before level 70? Thanks. Last bumped on Sep 28, 2023, 8:11:38 AM

I don't know, it takes all your life, that should feel like a pretty substantial hit to your character.
I enjoy taking CI during the campaign once the character has a bit of ES built up. Have to be a bit careful here and there but that's nice, I want them to feel different to others. I'm glad the game has keystones like, say, Elemental Overload or Resolute Technique that are very low-stakes choices and are going to show their benefits straight away. But I'm also glad they're not all like that. |

if CI is even a thing in PoE2 lol
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

" I mean, it's a pretty safe bet if you ask me. It's consistently been one of the most popular keystones. |

I really think the vast majority of Keystone nodes on the tree should NOT be useful for leveling. They should all be build-changing nodes that you work towards, not something that you can slap on as quickly as possible and never change anything from beginning to end.
They should all be so impactful that it requires specific character design to utilize. Get rid of Resolute Technique, get rid of that 40% damage accuracy one, get rid of all that "leveling only" keystone crap. I mean...its sort of the whole meaning of the term "keystone". It is the brick that holds everything else together, not something that limps along like any other notable or small passive point. You build all the pieces first, and then when you are ready, you place the keystone and finish the building. Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Sep 27, 2023, 8:53:04 PM

(No getting rid of RT unless you're also getting rid of accuracy as a mechanic, please. Aiming in the right place and "missing" due to a diceroll is tiresome.)
"Well, for levelling before CI, rather than levelling as CI. Once you have CI three of the four mods on it are doing nothing for you. |

" Right, I guess I should have said "Levelling CI builds." And +1 on not removing RT, I level every single attack build as RT and then change to crit around level 75. |

I assume they're going to be reverting a lot for the role of ES in PoE2.
In PoE1 ES actually no longer has any mechanical purpose for a defense health type. This is easiest to see by comparing against enemies. ES was used as a layer of quickly regenerating defense if you let pressure off an enemy. Much like Warframe, the choice to allow Chaos (Toxic) damage to bypass shields has always been questionable. Unlike Warframe, PoE kept Chaos damage as more of a perk or low source of DPS. When GGG started making Chaos builds more potent they pretty much eliminated the point of ES. They then decided to add health regeneration as a poor redundancy role for what ES was intended. It's been interesting watching PoE and Warframe make the same mistakes over the years.
