Why do i keep seeing people saying don't use alchs until T6 maps?

I know it's unnecessary from a progression point of view, but especially early on in a league, the extra quant you are 100% going to make way more than an alch for the bonus in quantity, especially at a league start....

Am I missing something? Some of the best loot I find is during clearing all T1-T5 maps at a league start.

The difference between loot obtained in a blue v rare map is HUGE imho. Well worth a measly alch, regardless of the stage of a league you are at.

Sounds like just a bit of "play it safe with your currency until you're comfortable" advice for new people. So I guess it's important to remember that beginner advice is for beginners, by nature. Bits of advice like this aren't meant to be seen as rules for people who are more familiar with the game.

Its actually not bad advice, You don't need alcs for bonus objectives til yellow maps.

But if you want to farm lower maps with better loot then you should alc as well under the condition that you have a good supply of alcs.

I think it's mostly due to possible map mods your league start build might not be able to run and lack of maps and reroll currency (scrour/alchs) early on. If you get a bad mod, you might have to wait until you get another one of that specific map in order to get the bonus or reroll your map with the little currency you've got.

That said, I too try to alch as many maps as I can early on or buy already rolled maps from Kirac and run those for completion. You are totally right that, on average, you will get more loot out of rare maps.

werent we all starving on alch this league ? i think I was at least. really struggling on alch and linking orb. and you can use alch also to buy maps. will spening alch give alch back ?

You were probably starving on alchs because you werent using them on maps to get more alchs my guy....

because you dont keep up too much in white maps and loot in yellow maps will be better, so you kind of risk it going out of alch and scours during whites.

if you dont try to breeze through content to get to red maps probably doesnt matter since your taking your time in whites and wont run out of alch and scours.

I think it is suggestion for new players and it is used because it is easier to understand than "use alchs when you feel like your character is ready" and running rare maps is needed to get bonus for completing T6+ maps.


I start running rare maps also at T6 or a bit before. Running Blue is faster, easier and enough to progress in atlas.

use orbs of binding those can roll maps also.
