I need GGG to tell me if the Trial of Ancestors tattoos will be retained at end of league

The short answer is "No".

Take "Honoured Tattoo of the Wise Man"´s “+1 to Level of all Intelligence Skill Gems on Gloves, Boots, Breastplates, Helmets, Weapons, Shields and Rings” for example
totalling at
"+6 or +8 or +26 to bluegems, depending on the direction you look at it"
that you can´t get anywhere else.

they dont say because then a lot of people would skip playing the league and they want as many people playing as possible.

that sounds very logical from one point of view.

on another point of view, players like me see that as a form of dishonesty. different players have different ways of enjoying the game.

as much as i dislike actiblizz, they were upfront about their malignant hearts being voided at the end of the season from day one albeit hidden in their FAQ.

not knowing if the items go standard is a surefire way to make me SKIP THE LEAGUE.

it also is a good way to burn more of their goodwill with players.

crucible give players access to crucible trees which makes random uniques become stronger or rivals mirror tier rares on standard. we still get to keep them.

as for tattoo of wise man, i think you missed out that you can only apply one of such tattoos per passive tree. such as one +30 int, one +30 dex, one +30 str. theres a limiting factor there.

We are just beta testers so they can make Ruthless 2 (aka PoE 2).

I understand your pain but thats the truth. Tencent owns them. They wont care about players anymore.

I wouldn't call it dishonesty....if anything it's purely good business, neither honest nor dishonest but rather, intentionally gray. They choose not to disseminate information that might hurt their numbers. That technically isn't lying about anything. It might even be totally unknown.

Take a restaurant for example (not a super high end): they aren't going to tell you certain things on the menu are out of season and don't taste as good as they normally would. That's definitely something you would want to know as a customer, but it makes no sense for them to do that.

From a very fundamental level, the point of a season is for players to jump in and play the season. It is never the intent or the drive of a season to increase the power of standard characters, no matter what YOU may personally feel about it. That is absolute fact. I'm not discounting how you see and play seasons, I'm merely pointing out that from GGG's perspective you are doing something against the grain of their entire design philosophy.

In their minds, I bet they would rather not even attempt to entertain a mindset like yours because no matter what they say, it would be totally antithetical to the reason we have seasons

Again, not commenting on your mode of enjoyment; just injecting some of what I believe to be GGG's continued reasoning and why they have NEVER given us this information ahead of a league. Diablo 4 did it because its the FIRST season, and there was already massive issues with the launch of the first season. So they wanted to win brownie points with a young population. I would put my entire savings on that kind of "transparency" disappearing rather quickly in newer seasons.

thank you clarifying your stance and emphasizing that you are not attacking me but just stating it as it is.

i can see your point quite clearly. especially with the restaurant analogy.

to me GGG never needed to explicitly announce whether things were going std or not, because simply, every gear that gave us direct power, always went to STD. its how leagues have always worked in the past.

the only reason why i need to ask is because of sanctum. it was the very first league they took away something that they gave. sanctified relics.

they did not communicate clearly on any official channels on this decision until mid/end league.

the reason why i bring up the way i enjoy the game is because keeping it hidden only affects std players.

if GGG announced that the items will be kept, they might entice std players to join in.

if GGG kept it vague, std players will not want to join in.

on the flip side, for temp league enjoyers it doesnt really matter whether or not the items will be kept in game does it?

if boosting player count for temp leagues is the entire purpose, doesnt it make more sense to announce if the items will be kept?

temp league enjoyers will come regardless of this announcement.
std players are more likely to come with this announcement.
std players are less likely to come without this announcement and rather continue playing std.

what other groups of players have i left out?

Some decisions shouldn’t be made ahead of time until you see how things work in practice.

But surely, consumable items that make permanent changes to a character are about the absolute least likely kind of item to stay if the league they’re attached to disappears. These things disappearing would be the assumption I would go with if I felt like I had to force myself to make an assumption one way or the other.
