ARPG's are power fantasies of killing and finding cool loot, POE2 is top down Souls-like not an ARPG

poe 2 sucks and will forever be worse than poe 1 IF we cant zoom zoom through maps. don't @ me

It's also worth noting that every single version of PoE2 which players have touched thus far had the difficulty cranked up because that makes for a better demonstration.

Even before we get to all the changes which will happen in the next 2 years before release, the exact same content showcased at Exilecon is going to have about half as much life and do far less damage.

It does nothing but make the game look balances differently that is actually is, and for ARPG's, that's not good for communication, as now thousands of threads across the web now prove.

Somewhat disagree with this. The developers have never been shy about saying who they expect the type of player to enjoy PoE is: the hardcore player who enjoys a difficult game. Showing a slower, methodical playstyle like they did will attract exactly that type of player.

The only players that will be somewhat turned off by this gameplay show are the veterans of PoE 1 that have gotten used to the zoom. But those same veterans will also know that there is a lot missing from that video that will eventually add to the speed.

So essentially, showing a slower gameplay video like they did rather than an endgame top tier speed is MORE effective at attracting new players to the new game, which is the goal. They aren't trying to attract old players, we are already here...Furthermore, the slower gameplay will help retain the new players as well. The worst thing they can do is show gameplay videos that show the game at a level the reasonable new player will be unable to achieve. That's how you get the new people to quit immediately.

The hardcore player will know those characters are fishy and you will make something so much more optimized that it will not look remotely like that. It will never be methodical, are you joking? It will still be a game I can play with my eyes on watching a show instead of the game. What they showed is probably what it would look like for a complete newb gamer. Which brings me to my next paragraph.

Oh the goal is to attract new players instead of respecting your old players, is it? I think more than likely what they're going to attract is casuals who would've never played POE in their lives. Congrats on like 1 league worth of income when it launches I guess? It's extremely dangerous to chase a bigger audience, the game would have to be dumbed down for that to happen and I don't think Chris would like that. I think PoE has pretty much capped on its audience ages ago and the more we push it, the more dangerous it gets. See: Harvest fans.

Instead of doing that, why not give your loyal players what they want and keep working on their game and just give them new content/classes and a new graphics uplift.

Who is PoE2 for exactly? Because I don't quite understand you people's arguments. Is it for the people that were so into the early dull version of PoE where we had to make forum posts to trade or is it for the new players that probably haven't seen a game 10% this complicated in their lives?
People needs to relax. They want to implement skill-based mechanics, which is great, as every game goes that direction, as it's the right one.

POE have zero player skill involve. It's entirely your build, and just spamming 1-2 skills.
The zoom is absolutely dog**** and make me quit the game long time ago.

I love that the POE 2 is slowed and that your action as a player will matter.

Tons of people dislike the POE zoom and insane speed, where you don't even see what is happening on the screen, and that the game is brainless simulator.

Also there is no written rule what exactly certain genre is.
I said it's a bad design if a game have zero player-skill around it, as is doesn't respect my skills.

There is also a tons of ARPG from back in the day that you have to be actually good to beat them.

And i don't get to complain, do people expect POE 2 to be the same as POE 1?
It would have been absolutely ridiculous, and wouldn't get player base, simply because there is already POE1.

If you like the zoom and brainless simulator just play POE1.
People that doesn't like that will play POE2.
Smart move and i love it. Just like i loved POE1 back when it was in the beta and the speed was normal.

Poe gained such speed because the game was clumsy

Poe 2 hmmm it seems that maybe they are doing this because combining the already heavily unbalanced Poe 1 with the huge new content of Poe 2 has become impossible, not viable, not interesting for many new players and those who are bored with total zoom

However, zoom in poe 2 will still exist, maybe a little different, slower but it will still exist

The game (Poe2) I think will be made for people who want a break from total zoom while trying to attract new players

And for those who don't want changes, will still be Poe1

It may be hard news for you with this separation but it is logical and that's it
