New chieftain ascendancy
" It's an S tier node but not really for heavy bossing. It's for a DPS boost on the tankiest monsters in each map. Compared to the alternative (WoC, alt-quality Flammability, indirect Scorch), this plus Punishment is 400% more damage against monsters that have had their resistances buffed by Exarch altars, but the alternative is more damage in general. It's less damage against pinnacles, but not much less. Still enough to get your own Voidstones, and if you intend to do a lot of pinnacles, you go trapper instead. As always in a new league there will be people complaining "I can't kill tanky rares any more, GGG plz nerf", because they have given those rares +150% fire res with map mods, altars or just the monster mods on them. Ramako users will not be calling for nerfs, they'll be shredding those monsters. Chieftain + RF in helm + Fire Trap/Searing Bond both in the same 6 link with gem level scaling really jumps out at me as having a lot going for it. Especially given that your Searing Bond taunts, allowing you to stand still safely if used well. Searing Bond damage numbers are... actually nuts. Fire Trap loses Trap and Mine support but it's still better than any other Bond support would be. Le Toucan Will Return

" This is such a ridiculous way of looking at that node. As captainlance duly noted, the node is a significant damage increase with the small investment of two curses and exposure (32% decrease). Why would anybody in their right mind roll an entire ascendancy just to gain a minor damage increase on exarch altars ? This simply serves to mislead people and provide them with poor decisions. The chieftain ascendancy has 1 good notable with everything else being either underwhelming or unuseable. Please stop baiting people into playing it. It is not good. |

" How many of the people playing Jugg will be saying "GGG NERF THESE STUPID HIGH RESIST MONSTERS!!!!" Remember 3.18 day 1 when all of Reddit was saying "Archnem monsters broken GGG NERF NOW"? At that point people who were playing crit Inquisitors and taking the Inquis version of the node you call bait weren't complaining, they were just destroying everything. 4 mod monster with +140% resist to your element? Dead. Of course Chieftain RF looks bad if you are razer focused on pinnacle damage. If you care about pinnacle damage, you are playing traps, not Jugg RF, Chief RF or anything else. Chieftain performs well enough on pinnacles to get your own voidstones and not well enough to be a good choice for ubers - that's the same performance as Jugg RF. But where Jugg's weakness lies - hitting Exarch altars in maps (without an Eater buff, Eater is bait) - Chieftain just doesn't care. Maven 4-way rolled 'monsters have +40% resist'? That's free quant rather than an actual problem. Jugg's probably best at 100 div investment or more - because Jugg can get Ramako with jewels then. Jugg won't need Valako, it already wants Brass Dome anyway. There was a time when Ramako would have been a bad node. A time when monster resists almost never exceeded 50% and when the 3.17 map mods and especially altars didn't exist. In 3.14 I wouldn't have played 3.22 Cheiftain either, nor would I have played Inquisitor crit. Le Toucan Will Return

I just realized the small nodes in the new ascendancy are pretty bad. They are 15% fire res .05% life regen.
10% melee, life regen 10% fire, life regen 10% totem placement speed, life regen. I mean they are numerically identical to before, but the notables are so much worse. In fact he used to have charge generation in small notables. Idk why we can't have more useful stats. I do like totem speed. This new chieftan doesn't do anything interesting. Sure he frees up gear pressure, but he has no bucket of damage or utility. I think this is going to be an ultra high investment kind of class that just feels bad. No attack speed, aoe, cast speed, crit. Stuck by the marauder area. Oof |

I have been waiting for some changes on chieftain, but not like this...
Unless the Fist of War works with Tawhoa chosen or resistance go to 0 then you can make it negative, but when I read it ... I don't think so. Can we expect any update or changes from GGG? Otherwise we wait for patch notes. (Probably another nerfhammer) |

BIG disappointing for me.
One pseudo Melding of the flash and rest is unusable -almost zero offence nods. Hinekora is a simply stupid trap - 5 % , really ?, it's an ascendancy ,not a single affix. Next, War's Herald- second trap , it'll be never 8 -link, these both skills have zero synergy. About synergy- where is it in chieftain class ? Are you going to imitate a Blizzard with bad decisions ????? |

since the new league is karui-themed, i believe they will add two or three uniques that will make the new chieftain really broken
we will have youtubers making those videos: "omg chieftain new meta" "crush endgame with chieftain for less than 10d" "will GGG nerf this new unique?" "20 divine chieftain uber boss challenge" and so on i can also see some combos with "passive tatooing" + jewel radius ascendancy it is so obvious |

Tawhoa good if your hits slow, but hitting slow is bad overall so... dead end x_x
