Why have the Act 2 Bandits gone ignored for so long?

The only time I ever chose Oak was in the gauntlet. Alira is comfy for mana regen sometimes. Only on the first character in a league though.


Coming PoE 2 I think most people will run the other story mode for a while? And will there be equivalents I wonder, because if this choice would really matter one would be bound to a specific story line for the sake of their (optimal) build.

That's a big mistery for me as well.

While yes, bandit rewards will be addressed in PoE2, I hardly find this as an excuse for ignoring them within the whole 3.0 cycle. Changes to bandit rewards are not that impactful (just a few numbers tweak), they don't require the implementation of such a massive and long-awaited update. Instead of 4 options we have 1.5 for a very long time.

Not just a quest reward, but the only reward that permanently affects your character and depends on the way you completed the quest. It deserves more attention I think.

That's precisely why I don't imbue it with any special status. Because that just serves to further highlight the mismatch between that status and the relatively inconsequential nature of the quest within our character's narrative. It was once a major event, back when the game was only 3 acts long and was about stopping some bad soldiers and their boss in the city. It's now a minor speedbump on the way to our character acquiring truly godlike power, and the idea that killing a few bandits is an integral part of our growth just seems out of place.

Yeah, I was disappointed when that didn't eventuate, I was looking forward to the 'choose your boss' consequence or anything else along those lines.
