Will 3.22 be the last league in POE1?

Doubt it

Given that bex specifically went out of her way to quash any speculation on PoE2 arriving any time in the foreseeable future, do not expect it before 2025 at the earliest. 2026 or even 2027 are also possible. Not sure why they're holding an ExileCon if they have no intention of launching beta testing or releasing the game for several years yet, but here we are.

Source on this quashing?

Last I saw, the only thing that was quashed was the speculation that 4.0 was going to launch instead of 3.22. Two years out strikes me as absurd. They’re announcing a beta date at exilecon - you don’t do that 1-2 years out. It would make more sense to hold exilecon later at that point.

They’re showing off the game at upcoming general game conventions too. They’ve had PoE 2 under development for years and they’ve only sporadically showed it off at general conventions. Now they’re doing it back to back. This is part of the general marketing campaign that is starting after exilecon. Those campaigns usually don’t run that long because people lose interest and it’s expensive to maintain intense marketing.

I’d be very surprised if the beta does not start this year. I expect the full release to be early next year at the latest.

True, if the game were 2 years away they would have had their second Exilecon next year.

Bex's Tweet definitely didn't indicate PoE2 was immeninet that's for sure. We don't even know how much of a beta will be available, when it does arrive.

I personally think most of the development is done, but the systems integration into a shared PoE1 universe and porting to consoles is the real hang up.

Time is just not on their side. All they are announcing at Exilecon is a beta release estimate. That's it. Why they wouldn't just release the beta with 3.22 or post Exilecon, I have no idea. Unless it's not ready. If they are really that crunched on just a beta, then this might truly be a longer scenario.

I tend to agree that 2025 or later is a catastrophe that they can't allow, but 2024 starts in 5 months. And then I would have to guess a minimum 3 month beta, take results, iterate, maybe more beta, then release. Again time isn't luxury here.

Edit: maybe a holiday 2023 PoE2 Beta? That's fine as long as it's not a lvl 20 act1 only type scenario. I think that's pointless to release. It's needs to be a full beta imo.

I'd expect roughly a year from exilecon personally or they would organise their schedule differently, I'm expecting beta to start before the end of the year and realistically it shouldn't stay in beta for that long unless they are using the old descriptor (for testing) instead of the new one (heavily marketing focused).

Knowing GGG it will be a blend of both but I still wouldn't expect it to be years in beta.

patch 4.0

it s not even an expansion anymore, it s a patch. the sheer disrespect of dev work. like barely a list of couple fixes and a couple of balance notes. yep, people are calling 4.0 not at all to disrespect ggg. surely.
on poe 2, I was expecting way more sneak peeks of poe 2 before exile con, if it was leading to some form of beta or whatever else. I am starting to think too, poe 2 quite far away.

PoE "2" was always labeled as patch 4.0, so I don't see the issue or any disrespect by using the patch name instead of the marketing name lol
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
