Most likely.
They're announcing the beta for PoE2 at exilecon so even if PoE2 beta starts right after exilecon there's probably at least 6months until it actually comes out |

The 3.22 expansion for Path of Exile is also being announced at ExileCon the Second. Unless Grinding Gear has decided to Sega people and announces that Path of Exile 2 is available for live download now at EC2 - which they will not do - the next league will still be PoE1. Probably the league after that, too.
I'm hoping - forlornly, but hoping - that "beta access" for Path 2 will be announced as starting the week after ExileCon ends, with a release timeline for Path 2 of "before the end of the year." Mostly this is because I'm sick of Path 1's shit and I want all that good crack they're promising in Path 2 REALLY FRIGGIN' BAD, but still. What I'm expecting is that Path 2 beta will coincide with 3.23 or 3.24, since putting off the beta until next year would absolutely infuriate the playerbase. PoE2 would ideally drop around Christmastime, or failing that it would drop in spring '24, though I'm mortal fear'd that it's gonna be another full torturous year before we get the damned thing. Either way, the league content cycle will continue as normal for path of Exile until 2 drops, and then it'll continue to continue as normal. Leagues are independent of the version of the game, the three-monthly league cycle will continue once the game updates to 4.0.0/PoE2 without interruption. Save, maybe, for a Legacy 2 league where they bring back leaguestones and let us have fun again. Maybe? She/Her

We'll have to wait until Exilecon to know better. They will announce 3.22 there and I hope we also get a date for the POE 2 beta. My bet is we'll have some sort of transition between POE 1 and the beta, and that could happen in 3.23 where they slowly start to implement 4.0 mechanics into the game.

IMO, POE 2 is most likely going to release around next spring or so. So yes. A couple of them even.
If I had to guess: 2 more leagues for POE 1(the one this summer, then one in early December), then a slightly bigger gap to the POE 2 release in May/June maybe(?). More than that tho and I think the hype will start waning pretty damn fast. Last Exilecon they were even talking about a beta in late 2019/early 2020 and that's already 3.5 years late now... Ninja. Pretty sure it's BETA within 3 months and then POE 2 launching for Christmas break.
They'll most likely have a 3.22 regular league and run the BETA alongside it for a period of time... instead of having everyone just play the beta as 3.22... cos then effectively POE 2 has launched. |
