" Unfortunately this was not the best example to use...it was never the intention of Legion for you to clear the WHOLE legion. It was originally designed so you: 1) choose a direction to focus on and 2) maybe you get lucky in that direction and get a general. It was AFTER legion league that it became practice to try and clear the whole legion. Don't forget that watchstones which made legion easier and more profitable came AFTER legion original league. Although....i guess the same could be said for any timed content. The reason for the timer is because devs don't WANT most players to clear it completely. so the whole point of the timer here is to put a limit on the gains you can get from the league mechanic, removing that means that you would be maxing the gain at next to no risk and going over their intended "loot quota" for that content.
So it then becomes a case of if they remove the timer they seriously restrict the loot gained which in turn makes people not want to play it. Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

" Well there's another case that you missed: they could ramp up the difficulty based on the amount of the "mechanic" you unlock. For legion, have each monster gain more life and damage per enemy unfrozen. For delirium, increase the stats of monsters more as you get further into the delirium. Basically, take a crucible approach to EVERY mechanic. |

I've always felt like the Delirium things should be swapped around. Let the timer and juicy rewards be tied to the Delirium orbs. Meanwhile, the random Deli encounter in maps would be more like a 20% delirius map with no timer.
