Just as a quick follow up if you want to know how soul eater is actually intended to function as a modifier just look at burial chambers boss, that is 100% of what its intended to do what you get with random rares out in the wild is just a pointless numbers buff slapped on monsters arbitrarily when assigned.

I once met even 3 (!!!) Soul eaters in single delve run between 2 points.
Thats definitely out of control.
And in delve they are even more frequent than anywhere else..

Also..
Need to speak ther drop is close to nothing?
Keeping in mind the effort needed to kill SE in delve whats feeds even thru walls it seems.

Gonna hard disagree with this one, many mechanics are just like that soul eater however is a failed rare mod.
The intention is that you get a monster with scaling difficulty over time and are encouraged to handle that appropriately.
The actual result is a monster that may as well have 300% attack/cast speed set on it and soul eater doesn't even feature as a modifier. This is primarily because PoE is very area focused and monsters spawn in groups with density being a primary focus for progression.
Its very easy to categorise modifiers like this (allies are invulnerable has a very similar problem but is circumstantially easier to deal with) by how often you actually counterplay them. Players don't counterplay soul eater, they just have enough dps that it dies almost immediately and they leave if it doesn't.
Worth mentioning that individual rares are so worthless in PoE that the idea of counterplaying one is already a failed principle :p honestly the whole thing is why AN was and still is considered a failed rework. It just about worked when you could add the modifiers yourself create a mega juiced mob and it would drop 30 gilded scarabs now that its pure rng it simply isn't worth the time to kill anything that doesn't die immediately.
Mana siphon is an example of one of the modifiers that actually works in terms of changing player behaviour instead of just adding mechanical numbers.
That's nice and all but if your build is able to just blow up a screen of 30 monsters or something in a split second without giving you any time to react to that souleater before it becomes impossible to deal with then you should typically have enough damage to kill or heavily damage the souleater along with those mobs to just finish him of afterwards. I find it hard to imagine a scenario where a player generates an impossible to deal with souleater without any fault of his own.
I honestly can't even remember the last time i had trouble with that mod and i run 100% deli maps and simulacrums with a ton of shit on the screen on a fairly regular basis.

You play standard. The soul eater rares were buffed hard this league, they were not like this last league so you probably have not even encountered how ridiculous they are now. I don't even remember seeing soul eater last league as it was far rarer. Every other rare this league seems like it soul eater but I will say it does seem like they may have reduced it recently as I do not see them as often the last few days.

I play standard too and some times I open a breach and there be like 2 soul eaters.
Tbh I have the dps and bull to deal with them but I can imagine that other people would have a lot worse of a time dealing with 2 soul eaters feeding in a monster dense breach
