3 Reasons why Crucible League is a Failure

I started pretty late in Sanctum, but I have played it more than any other league, having a breakthrough with currency, building two lvl 100 characters and investing into gear worth multiple mirrors.

It was really fun, so I got hyped about Crucible. Now playing it and understanding the changes that occured to Abyss, I am thinking about quitting already.


I will now explain why this league sucks:

1) HUGE nerf of Abyss

Every league mechanic has a reason, a place, is useful for something.

Abyss was not very profitable in terms of making currency in comparison to other mechanics like Deli, Delve, Harvest etc.

Though it was extremely nice to safely level up in the depth with +3 to level of the area while being completely unaffected by map mods, giving you a very reliable mechanic.

It was also possible to farm item bases, since you had hundreds of monsters that could potentially spawn high level bases which were sufficient to start crafting T1 mods on it.

Deleting the +3 and moving it to a single entity like the spire is the worst, most stupid, idiotic idea the responsible devs could have had.
You broke Abyss with that!
Before you could at least choose to use Abyss to farm EXP and item bases, now it is complete garbage!

Having only a +1 on a Stygian Spire is a fucking joke, an insult to the injury! It is UTTERLY worthless shit, reducing chances to drop bases by 99% and robbing the depths of its old value completely.

The buffed uniques are still shit, nobody will go and farm Abyss for that crap. If I would make decisions in delusional GGG house, I would reverse the +3 to monster level.



2) Breach still sucks

The only reason Breach was used, was to buff Deli rewards and maybe farm some extra EXP, thats about it. If you call that a buff, you might consider quitting substance abuse.

Removing useless layers of Breachstones and buffing uniques works same as buffing uniques in Abyss: It doesn't. It is still shit.


3) Crucible is a kick in the groin

You get zero reward from monsters, you might brick your weapon you are dependent upon or brick the map itself, if the monsters are blocking a tight map.
The control over how strong they are is difficult since the bar rises differently, depending on the item level and the map.

Most of my friends and me quit the mechanic quickly and view it only as a very risky endgame crafting-base russian-roulette mechanic.

You go around the map and easily annihilate everything including the boss, but god beware you actually decide to do crucible.

If you do, you certainly do it LAST. This means, it cost you time to move to the stupid location again after completing the map to avoid risk bricking your map.
To add more insult to injury, you start fighting the mobs from crucible only to realize, that even the simplest mob is far stronger than rare mobs on the map, while certain monsters are FAR more brutal than the map boss itself, making it look like a cheap cockroach.
It took you seconds to delete the map boss while you have to run for your fucking life from the mobs to seperate them and kill them in smaller portions in order to avoid getting recked like a moron.
That of course cost you even more time, on top of doing it as the last step of the map.
Once you reach a unique enemy or a life regen blue monster, you keep hitting it for 5 minutes straight, costing you even more time.
Then you have your lucky day and brick your weapon because it gets a skill that fucks up your build.
In that moment you can pray to have a replacement or at least currency to obtain one.

At the end these monsters drop nothing, cost you massive amounts of time in multiple ways and maybe even kill you several times by simply oneshotting even the tankiest of a juggernaut, costing you exp.

I am really pissed about this crap. I was already disappointed that you can't fix fucking Melee for years, keep nerfing it any second if something gets great about it and arguing that only a small player base plays melee.
Obviously, because it sucks most of the time!

But to make it even worse, you bring about every mechanic that is really hard for melee. Sanctum was impossible for melee completely, forcing you to play some other damn build, leaving out these players again.

Stop making shitty league mechanics that exclude those players.

Including Sanctum, this is the second league mechanic IN A ROW I am avoiding as a melee lover. Get your fucking decisions right boys, or it is time for me to stop financially supporting you because you are fucking me up again and again.

I want to be done with POE but I can't find another game that quite gets me to that point. Well truthfully I just want POE to embrace melee (like I don't know maybe make ranged monsters primarily attack ranged characters, & melee/melee...dumb idea but no more dumb that what is happening). 4 - Builds that use uniques are completely and utterly shafted. And don't you link me a remnant that can add trees to them. You should just able able to add them to uniques like everything else, maybe more of an xp cost.

I'm not going to take my 5 div weapon, put a tree on it, see its bad, and go buy ANOTHER 5 div weapon to add a tree to, hope it's not bad, and then smash that one into it.

The implementation of this mechanic for unique weapons is mind-bogglingly bad.
yeah total crap and all good points.

Just one thing that could improve this league is to get an item that would reset your passive tree on a weapon so at least it's not bricked...
Atleast you're able to play the game. For me it's spiking from 20ms to 400 and back and up again.
Ye i mean if next league is going to be as shit as this one, ill just go touch some grass because for the past year or so the league quality has been decreasing, and im strongly losing my patience over their shitty dev ways

I completely agree that this is simply shit league mechanic.
All valid points and GGG hat wohl den Arsch offen to make such mobs.

The only point is that the trees on items r nice and make new builds possible.
While league mechanic is bad.
Core game is in really good state.
Global chat and trade is still very active even this late into the league along with d4 being out.
I personally also don't remember if I ever played any other league for this long.
