CPU Temperature spikes
AMD's X3D processors like to run hot
i believe most youtubers suggest to undervolt a bit--> you keep the computing power but get less heat. d:-D*

" Again, I've played multiple AAA games and the temp never went above 81, there is definitely something wrong with PoE if it goes that high |

I had the same problem with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950x using the directx 12 beta, when i tried the directx 11, it cooled around 20 degrees, i reached 86ºC with the beta

" Yeah it's absolutely crazy, clearly it's not just a "me" problem and other people are having these problems too. Hopefully GGG do something, but I doubt it. We have long history of PoE running poorly randomly |

I also have a 5800X3D CPU with a 3070 GPU, and I agree that Path of Exile doesn't utilize the CPU well compared to most games. I recommend undervolting the CPU, as it's an easy way to improve performance and temperatures. However, even with undervolting, my CPU temperature still reaches 67-72°C during casual red maps, which is high compared to other CPU and GPU intensive games I've played. I tried switching to Dx11, which improved the framerate overall (up to +200fps), but caused massive CPU MS spikes when killing large packs, resulting in hitches and huge frame drops. I also needed to run it with vsync to prevent the temperature from climbing to 80+. Although Vulkan was working fine before, I now experience random visual flickers on cosmetics which started in crucible for me, so I play on Dx12. It seems like the game's optimization for newer hardware is lacking, and they may be relying on Path of Exile 2 to fix these issues

I recently bought a 7800x3d.
The "problem" is loading. When you open the game, the CPU goes full tilt then it calms down. Same goes for when you load into a map or whatever. The CPU just goes full power to deal with the task at hand. While clearing a map its no problem. e CPU's theese days just boost themselves to thermal limits (or try to) whenever there is work to do. |
