Latency extremely variable in most zones

Damn. That sucks, sorry mate.

At least you've the new cable on the way... not sure what else to suggest, honestly.

I found this article:

https://lookgadgets.com/articles/intel-puma-modems-list/

My modem/router combo is on the list of bad chipsets here. But it's still super weird because PoE is the only game that I'm feeling latency like this so I'm not sure what the problem is. I sit stable at 31 ms for League and haven't had any issues with DRG or D4 or anything. Idk if it's just that PoE is more sensitive or something.

Anyway, hopefully new cable helps. If not then I might look into a better modem/router combo and see if that fixes the issue.

Well, the way the netcode is designed for POE, any sort of latency/PL is going to be felt, big time.

Other games are coded differently, so that they try and give you the best possible experience even on a shitty connection.

You can't really compare one to another.

Yeah, if the new cable doesn't help, I am at a loss. I don't know if doing a full reset to factory on the modem would work or be wise, since it's an ISP one. Getting a new one is worth taking a look at though, even if that router is a few years old, there have been some MAJOR improvements to them lately.

I actually own the router, I didn't rent from the ISP. But the guidance from the manufacturer says only the ISP can push firmware updates. I can try doing a reset.

talk to your ISP and get them to push the firmware update then. But strange if you can't update it if you own it. Do you have management login to it ?
I've been having this issue also where I couldn't go 30 secs without getting latency and d/c. I found the issue to be Filterbladez. If you have it "sync" then you're gonna experience the latency and d/c issue. To work around this instead manually download the filterbladez you want to use and go from there.
actually i had the same issues (since 3.19 or 3.20) since a long time. i fixed this issue by using a vpn (exitlag), i am not a fan of this kind of services, but actually it works.
Closing the loop on this - I got myself a new router. Drastic? Maybe. But from all the reading I did it sure made it seem like the Puma chipset was bad.

The new results:

Bad hardware is bad, I guess.
