Vengeant Cascade not causing Frost Blades projectiles to return if they hit nothing
|
In testing both in Standard and in Crucible, a character with Frost Blades and an amulet anointed with Vengeant Cascade is able to attack a single enemy, causing the projectiles to fly out from behind them, however they do return unless they hit another enemy or hit the environment.
From the Recently Asked Questions thread: "Will Nimis projectiles return even if they hit nothing?" "In most cases, yes. A projectile which flies out uninterrupted to the maximum projectile range will return instead of just stopping there." Unless I am misunderstanding, at which point I wasted a fair amount of early league currency, Frost Blades projectiles should fly out to max proj range, then return even if they hit nothing. If this is actually working as intended currently, then I guess this is safe to ignore, but wanted to get clarification if this is a bug or not. Last bumped on Apr 10, 2023, 2:52:20 PM

Bad news for you, this is intended.
https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3324396#2 " The distance Frost Blades projectiles can fly is affected by projectile speed modifiers. That means the projectiles have this fading effect. |
|
"I should've added this also means that fast enough projectiles would reach the maximum distance (150 units) before they fade, allowing them to return, or at least start to return. |

Yeah this appears to be the case. I tested it further on Standard and with about 120% proj speed the projectiles return and almost hit the initial target, so it looks like you need 150% proj speed or more to make it work which is a fairly hefty investment. I didn't realize Frost Blades projectiles actually faded like something like Freezing Pulse does, so I guess this isn't a bug.
