The moment you stop communicating, you failed as a gaming company

So the reason people create gaming studios is to communicate? Couldn't they do that else where? Like Chris could go home and communicate with his family. No? So https://www.grammarly.com is the best gaming studio of our generation? I am calling BS on this!

Clown take.
They basically started from a garage and were very transparent and communicative until recently.
Problem is companies dont like negative feedback. It's a hussle and costs them the most precious resource to them.. money.

What they do? they hide. Then only come up when they want some from the players.. isnt this something that you havent experienced in real life at some point or some friend?

When everything else falls.. the "we're listening" card is always there.
"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words.

Retired since crucible.(Not a free tester anymore for a multi billion dollar company).

That's true, companies do not like negative feedback, especially if it is grossly exaggerated negative feedback presented by most demanding and most negative vocal minority.

This kind of feedback doesn't help make game better, it is just bad publicity.

Engaging in discussions with vocal minority doesn't make sense, it just makes company look even worse, because they "do not bent to community demands".

Those forums, reddit, Twitter, Facebook, all the streamers and their followers. This is just tiny, very specific fraction of the community. It doesn't reflect sentiments of typical player.

Have a look at another nerf-fest drama, or why no skill buffs drama, we are having here now. Those "dramas" are probably something that doesn't bother 95% of players.

So, yes, it is much better to just "listen" and throw vague statements here and there. That's much more polite and diplomatic than saying straight away:
"Sorry guys, you are less than 5% of our audience, we simply cannot make game that just cater to your needs" or "Sorry, we have a strong vision how we want the game to look, well, it might be not game for you".

They're literally making the game harder/more time consuming for everyone, with no explanations of their end-goal.

They have no "end goal". PoE is a progressive game designed to be "played forever". I SERIOUSLY doubt they even know themselves what the game will look like in two years.

If that's a good or bad thing? Well...
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Well, as said, they probably do not have end goal, they want the game to run another 10 years+, do not expect such a long-term vision.

In the short time, what we can guess from various comments, previews or changes is that they really want to slow-down the game, combat, progression, etc.

Looking at the previews (quite old now) of PoE2, they might want different combat pacing, that actually might involves cooldowns and skill rotations.

Can you imagine if they actually put those plans into some kind of manifesto? Entire internet would cry, streamers could get heart attacks or self-harm themselves. I do not believe PoE devs would like any harm anyone, so they are being a bit more convoluted an political about it.

From the other point of view, let's look at Archnemesis-goes-core fiasco. All the devs communication here, put them in really bad light. They probably learned here hard way it is the best to listen, make changes, but say as little as possible.

And who can blame them, look how yall act when they say ANYTHING, it's nuts. I'd have more respect if they gave everyone the finger and just made the game they'd want to play.

Agree.
PoE needs to pick up their game...

I don't think it's 5% of the player base more like 95%
